I just used System Restore on my computer and now I'm trying to defrag my computer. It works for like half a sec, turns idle then stops. I'm using the latest version of Smart Defrag. I don't understand why its not working it usually does.

I just tried to install a bunch of files but for some reason they won't install or install only a small portion of the file. (678 kb of a 2.3GB file)

Does anyone know what the hell is wrong with my laptop?

Eh: Nevermind it seems my comp decided to randomly fix itself O_O

Edit: Wait the download just decided to cug out *sighs* WTF

A virus is my first thought... Or a full Hard Disk Drive.

I scanned before and had a trojan...I scanned after the restore and supposedly it wasn't there. -_- I'll scan again just to make sure. I really hope its not my harddrive though T_T.

If you have less than 10% of free space defrags generally don't work.

Also, I had once a strange issue with my external drive - I couldn't copy some large files, but other larges files worked although I had enough free space. A defrag didn't help, however after some search on google, I converted the drive to NTFS and since then it worked fine.

So if you use XP, convert the drive into NTFS:
Start > Run > "cmd" > then in the command prompt type the drive letter for example "X:" then enter and then type "fs:ntfs".

Otherwise, a good ol' format always works ;-)

    Be careful.
I once had a virus take over the router, and every time I deleted the file from the computer... the router would re-infect the computer. Wooo, had to get a new router.

My story is, if the virus or whatnot keeps coming back... find the source.

    Hello :)

I had the same problem, but it is now fixed, the problem was that I wasn't connecting my laptop to electrical outlet, and in SmartDefrag's settings I was selecting: "Stop defrag while using battery" :)
