The whole list was pretty funny, although I'm slightly offended that Mr. Monopoly has a higher net worth than Bruce motherfuckin' Waaayne. Seeing Scrooge McDuck on the list has me wanting to see that HP/Ducktales crossover happen...

 

That list is... hm. I wonder where they got Burns' 16 billion, since a Simpsons episode puts him at about 1.3 billion (well, and less at the end of the episode). Well, and Scrooge McDuck having less? Pah! And Mario? Really? ...

Oh, and on topic, while having Malfoy on the Forbes list is somewhat humorous, the value given isn't really worth the bandwidth it took to download it, as I get the feeling that most/all of the numbers were made up (it is the fictional fifteen after all). Therefore, if someone uses it to argue in fanfic about the actual Malfoy wealth, I will laugh.

Ah, but do you not remember the Epilogue? How The Trio made the whole world better in five easy steps? He wouldn't be worth ten thousand galleons, he's be worth tens of millions of galleons. And, like all the fics with such numbers, that is complete shit.

Not to mention that that would spawn another shitload of fics where Harry buys Disneyland to drive around it in Lamborghinis and Sterling Mosses wearing stuff from Hot Topic.

 

We don't have to take it at face value. We know that it would be utter crap. All I'm saying is, if Rowling decrees it to be true, then it is. It is her universe after all.

 

Not quite... looking at Rowling's two attempts at math, both are pretty much ignored by anyone trying to make a legitimate fanfic world, because they're utterly nonsensical.

1) Black Family Tree. Good luck with making those numbers fit.

2) More importantly, her economy. Mass-produced Krum doll costs more than a wand with a phoenix feather inside it. The Weasley's (despite the poor lulz) have less money in the bank than it takes to purchase said wand... but still manage to nonetheless buy one for Ginny, in addition to all the other school supplies.

Rowling says anything that involves numbers, the best thing to do is pretend she didn't.
