Another AU. Should really be a seperate forum for these. This was the first AU year 1 I read, since to me, it wasnt a repeat of lots of other stuff, I found it really good. Harry is powerful, but not mentally so. He is pulling off 5th year stuff. Stunners and that when required. Also has one particular special ability.

The sequal (year 2) has just been started...

It doesn't quite ruin it. Just turns it off a bit. It isn't like most fic don't have him in Gryffindor.

 

I don't know if enough is changed here to really call it an alternate universe. It's basically Philosopher's Stone but:

- is poorly written
- Harry buys what the author considers to be "cool" t-shirts
- Harry doesn't like Ron as much, and is (hamfistedly foreshadowed as) pining for Hermione
- Harry can do wandless magic
- Harry can do more powerful spells
- Despite the last two items, Harry never does anything differently than how he did it in canon.

The plot is PS by the numbers.

 

Poster above me nailed it. This is a fairly well-written fic, but there's almost no difference between it and PS. I think it may even have the same amount of chapters. No idea why anyone would want to re-read PS with only a few inconsequential changes.

Lol. This it the truth about half the fics out there. Especially the rewriten ones.

 

Pretty much this. Neo Harry ducks punches. He meets up with Hermione early on, but it doesn't make any difference. It's pretty much the PS timeline, but tweaked to match Portkey's target audience. I couldn't get past the sorting chapter before getting bored and moving on to something else.

Recycling Bin material at best. 2/5.
