Seems like you guys didn't see that Eli was on the 'friend ladder' much like Eli didn't realize it. Tsk tsk.

If all you Self Inserts lost a little weight Eli would get the girl.

    Now get cracking.

Maybe Lt. James can help in that regard...hell, I wouldn't mind doing push-ups if she was on top of me.

I'll only call her a dirty hoar if this becomes a habit and she ends up doing woopie with half the men on the ship.

I still like Eli though, but he probably won't be getting any till he looses some weight. Or he'll die a virgin. Oooor he'll get a harem because he's math boy.

"DO ME, Or No more Fractals!"

I'm in agreement though about the Rush sudden megalomaniac twist at the end of the last ep. Was random and very anti subtle. It's like the writers forgot everyone was suposed to be miserable ala BSG so they had to make him the villain.

I can kind of compare this show to the old cliche highschool drama.

Soldiers are Jocks, Political women are Cheerleaders, and then you have the dumbass everyone else.

Eli is like the loveable dork, Senators daughter is the girl out of his league who is dating his role model brother football star young soldier dude. I haven't taken the time to remember names yet. Rush and eli are all I got.

It's still good but its funny how simplistic they kind are portraying everyone one.

No one besides Rush and ELi are enjoying exploring the ship. Everyone's an emo. That I think above everything else is probably going to make me stop watching.

    Sounds like someone I know...>.>

This! I was like...wtf? Where did that come from? I can understand everyone wanting to get a last-minute fuck in, but that was just...wtf?

I'm in the same boat. Everyone is using names I haven't got faces for...<.<

Except Lt. James...Wasn't she the one Scott(?) was banging in the pilot?

Lt. James has a face? My eyes haven't quite made it that high yet.

My opinion of this show is still in the wind.

Other than Rush, Greer, Eli, and Lt. James... I still really don't give a fuck about any of these people.

Meh, I'm still hoping for improvement.

No kidding. I had honestly thought I had missed an episode somewhere in between. It was completely random, which is probably what they were aiming for, in hindsight. They did think it was their last day, after all. Most people I know would slip a quick fuck into their 'end-of-my-world' plans, I suppose.

Though she didn't strike me as the type.

    Guess I was wrong.

This new episode looks like the Dust devil life form from Air part 3 is the cause of all the problems with the water.

    edit
Well I guess I was right.

I was expecting them to reason wit it like the SGC did the Virus Orb.

Is anyone else getting annoyed with Colonel Young? All he does is think that Rush doesnt care about anyone.
Young: Scott is stuck and losing air.
Rush: We might need to consider leaving him.
Young: You'll get your ice. Thats all you care about.

I hate to get all Mister Spock here, but the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few or the one.
    Everyone needs water not Scott.

Thats how Rush thinks. Why risk everything for someone that might not make it and lose a vauable resource at the same time.

It's the way the Colonel's character is, and it also creates some drama between the two of them.

As for the last episode I must agree with everyone's remarks about the ending; that parting comment Young made to Rush knowing about the recharge maneuver was just stupid.

Rush is right. Colonel is a dumb jock. There is a lot of anti-intellectualism being tossed around. Kinda like the real world.

So I was thinking they could redo this search for water for about 4 or five shows if the do it right. They need to get to the point of water tank that can go though the gate, pump it full and heave ho it back.

In the mean time we can have a beach episode, a parade of water lugging, a pond filled with some hungry animal etc.

So was the red shirt death way graphic or what?

I think I've finally figured what it is about this show that is stopping me from settling into this show. It feels like they're trying really really hard to make the important characters dislike/distrust each other more to add extra tension to the show. Just makes it feel a little forced to me.

The way I see it, there's already enough stuff going on around them to give interesting conflict, their environment is against them, they're lost and there are the inevitable aliens. That's be enough to be pretty interesting already and the extra drama just makes it feel too forced to me.

I was getting a Replicator vibe from that alien swarm.

Oh god, don't even bring up fucking Replicators. I still haven't forgiven the SGA writers for that replicator re-hash BS they pulled 'cause they were too goddamn lazy to come up with something new. I mean, c'mon, how much more :awesome would it have been if the "Asurans" had turned out to really be a bunch of Ancients that just happened to be evil assholes?

That said, I have to agree with Rainstorm's comments on the rather forced nature of the inter-personal drama. I enjoyed the last two episodes, but it seems like the writers wait for just the wrong moment, like when you're just about fully immersed in the plot, then spring the pointless, random drama on you, leaving you sitting there, wondering "WTF was that?".

That that that. I've been trying to find just what it is that has been bothering me so much about this show and that is it exactly.

At the moment I'm still very much wait and see on this show, if they continue with the "OH NOES, we need x, so lets run through the gate and find x far away from the gate and have drama as we race back to it to do this again next week." Than I'm out ...

The Water episode was Ghey. Intended capital G is intended.

Seriously, a random tremor just HAPPENS to free Scott, even though all the previous ones kept squishing him?
How lame. I wish they would have continued SG-1 instead of this utter shit. Hell, I'd even settle for some new Atlantis twist or somesuch.

I'll continue watching, only because I'm a Stargate fanboy, but someone needs to go piss all over these writers.

The series has so much more potential. I mean, the ship alone could be a huge plot point. HUGE. I think it's being underused.

Just because I think it needs to be said

    This is classic stargate 101.

First season sucks tremendously then it gets awesome.

Anyone remeber early stargate SG1. The mongolian Episode... virus that turns people into cavemen, all those episodes where they tried to further the storyline but only ever stayed exactly where they were before.

Same exact thing for Atlantis, Teyla and her stout tea, the whole wraith projecting ghostly images around people, all those lame no tech primitive cultures that were oh so fascinating for the writers to push on us. FORD!

I have no problem believing season one wil suck epicly compared to what will come.
i think I even called it a couple times.

Were going to have our horrible lines, like sams "reproductive organs on the inside", All those speeches Weir gave where she tilted her head, smiled demurely, and raised and eyebrow. This show has the random Rush hate line already. "Unless you knew all along..."

The only think I'm worried about is that the writers are trying to hard with the drama. You can see what they're trying to create, but they just don't know how to make it work yet.

when they get a consistent enemy/mission/mystery/quest other than survival, the show will pick up. They'll leave behind the milkywayin the past, kill off some characters, some how gain a loveable alien sidekick, ditch the stones, and finally start exploring the ship and manipulate their enviroment.

I'm willing to betmoney on this, if it survives into season 2

What strikes me as odd is why does Destiny look so primitive compared to SG1/Atlantis spacecrafts, considering they made the ship before they began Ascension.

Unless they made it that way purposefully.

Or maybe I'm just forgetting Universe isn't SG1 or Atlantis. :/

They seemed to suggest in the first episode, that destiny launched from earth.
And they got some address from the Atlantis database. This is probably pre pegasus since so much focus was put on having to use earths address to access it.

And whose to say Atlantis was the very first and only city ship the ancients used prior to entering the milky way. We know they had others from Atlantis, It could be the original was destroyed or decommissioned and they built Atlantis as the replacement. the style looks more like the Ori style which could mean this was the style prior to Atlantis city ship.

It could just be that the wear and tear is from millions of years of no one maintaing it. Even oxidation and shit.

I'll admit it looks a lot more patch worked together in some areas, like that place where rush has set up shop. I doubt that's the actual command center, it's probably just the closest one with a reasonable amount of control for them to use. That could be like an auxiliary control station just for inputting searches for the stargate. Ship looks freaking huge and i don't think they've explored every nook and cranny yet.
