I was just wondering what the people of DLP thought is the worst cliche in Harry Potter fandom?

In my opinion, it has to be the one where Harry goes to Gringotts and become super powered due to it.

Manipulative!Dumbledore. Seems to be overdone and over the top by so far. Some of the fics with it in are great, yeah, but it's more than beginning to bug me every time I see Dumbledore's nefarious (and always the same) plot unfold.

Does nobody believe that a lemon drop could be just a lemon drop?

 

I've always held the suspicion that those lemon drops were disguised drugs, some mild form of ecstacy or some opiates, he does come from a time where it was acceptable. If so this means that Dumbledore is basically wizard!House. Y'know without the diagnoses, hot boss or wisecracks.

 

I've seen them containing calming potion / draught of peace before, but never ecstasy - not a bad idea though. I did contemplate having Dumbledore grow weed in the greenhouses in the fic I'm writing these days, but...nah. Threw that out the window.

Besides, who needs chemical enhancements when you have the prazoc-voiced phoenix?

Maybe that's why he keeps Fawkes around, after all.

 

I dislike blatantly manipulative!Dumbles. Like if he is quietly steering things like he was in cannon, and it's decently written, I can deal with it.

If it is the "Fuck you old man, you kept my parent's will/account/*insert cliche item* from me!! Manipulative old bastard!!" and Dumbledore is sitting in his office thinking about how he plans to have Harry as his mindless puppet, then gtfo

 

Makes me wonder if there's a Manipulative-in-training!Harry out there, featuring SubtlyManipulativeMentor!Dumbledore.
