This story continues to grow and evolve. Petunia's fate was surprising, I'd expected Dudley to end in the permanent coma. Hooray for no more Dursleys!

I'm quite liking the atmosphere Mira Mirth has created here.

Manipulating the Godfather was quite interesting, so was Harry's view on the continued grudge between Snape and Sirius.

Control over emotions will probably help Harry become a competent Occlumens, should he decide to pursue the art.

Arthur's days are probably numbered now, since Harry won't be able to witness Nagini's attack.

    I'd better stop rambling now.

KtM handled this one pretty well: Awesome new chapter is awesome.

The update had a bit of a different feel to it than the rest of the story, imo, but I liked that. It's taking Harry from a kid making his way in a house of potential movers and shakers, ambitious cunts and sneaks...to a young adult with his own outlook on people's usefulness, and how he should, well, use them.

I like this, through and through, and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing a well-done H/Susan, either, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for that...even though it's tagged H/Padma.

Either way, much fun to be had with this fic. 4/5

I like this story a lot. And I don't read too much (read: any) fanfiction anymore. Kudos to Mira Mirth.

Well, I've been gone for a while and haven't been checking up on updates/new stories in fanfiction, but it says something (to me at least) that when I had time this was the first story I went to check for updates of.

I was pleasantly surprised to find 2 updates (both of which I believe other posters on this thread have already read). The story gets better and better in my opinion, and I stand by a very solid 5/5 for it.

In the most recent chapters I really enjoyed seeing Harry have a little control over himself. He realizes Umbridge is trying to make him mad, so he decides not to let her -- much better than his whining and posturing in canon. Likewise his thoughts on the rivalry between Sirius and Snape were interesting and well done.

I like his friends, I like his attitude, and I like the plot changes. Harry is more "slytherin" than he is in canon, but part of that (perhaps half?) is Harry playing a part instead of his actions genuinely reflecting his personality. I like that better than Harry actually being everything he pretends to be with no reservations. We see some of his other side when he's around Neville and the twins.

Anyway, 5/5 for the latest chapters. I did think that the meeting with his parents was a bit much, but it was a good alteration to what we saw in canon and it wasn't too over the top, so I have to say I liked it too. Plus having that plot line out of the way paves the way for more interesting developments in later years.

EDIT: I keep finding grammar and spelling errors in this thrice damned post, so I've edited it about 3 times, but I probably missed some. Maybe I've been drinking without noticing.

Fantastic new chapter--I feel like it's been forever, but maybe that's just my imagination. I had to reread the previous chapter, but it was no big deal--this story is easily one of my favorites right now. It's kind of amazing how much more personable this Harry is than most--they might be slytherin traits he's showing, but it makes him seem a lot more three dimensional and human.

The writing is technically perfect, and the style is both satisfying and unobtrusive. The prose rolls along so well you hardly notice before you've hit the end of the chapter (and then you cry). I'm really looking forward to seeing where this Harry goes. 5/5 for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Great chapter. I can't wait to see how the rest of this year and the following two play out. 5/5

This latest chapter gets five stars from me as well, really liking the logic behind things.

Those who stopped reading somewhere in early years might want to take another look. The changes are starting to roll in, and Harry is growing up in very interesting ways.

    I don't really like it.

Some of it is obvious - Padma pisses me off every time I see her, and I really don't like the portrayal of Malfoy. He's far too much himself when he should be a proper foil, and worthy of being the rallying point of inhouse politics who don't support Harry.

But I think what I dislike most about this story is how much it underachieves. It is good, certainly. It's a good fic. It probably deserves to be in the library. But for what it should be... it's not even close. I feel like the author has laid out an absolutely exquisite universe, with very developed characters and relationships and butterfly effect changes and then... decided to only put to paper about half of it. Half of brilliant is still good, but it leaves me with an empty feeling inside. The stuff I do enjoy is perpetually overshadowed by what I feel I should be enjoying.

Not really sure what to suggest to fix it, and it doesn't seem to be a problem for most people. I'm not going to actually rate this fic, because I don't want to rain on its parade in terms of actual rating, and I feel I'd be lying to myself to give it a 4 or 5, even though it probably deserves it technically.

Edit: Looks like I voted on this fic way back when, so I have to give it some vote. I'm giving it a 4, because it does deserve to be here, but I did want to make my overall feelings known.

I see where you're coming from, Vlad. I'm hoping this format of 'number of chapters corresponding to the number of years' will ensure that the last few years really start digging in. It's not all that much unlike what JKR herself did--I mean, going from 200 ish pages in the first book to--what--800 in the last few is quite a leap in the amount of detail. And the author of this fic is only in year five, which means there's plenty more space to flesh the story out.

And anyway, I'd rather the first few years got glossed over than the last few, when the action's really supposed to go down.

    I still like it.

IN fact, its one of my of top 5 ongoing fics at the moment.

(RustyRed is up there, as is "Path of Decision", and "Prince of the Dark Kingdom."

Truthfully everything else I'm indifferent to.

    4.4 of 5.

I only wish the author updated more regularly.

I'm gonna say 4/5. I really enjoyed this story. The only thing keeping it from being perfect, in my mind, is the slow, deliberate way the author retreads familiar territory. But it was a damn nice welcome back to Harry Potter fan fiction.

tl;dr (apparently, the average IQ of people typing in "tl;dr" on internet forums is 64.)

    Anyway, 4.8 out of 5.

It's like J.K. Rowling attempting to (and unexpectedly succeeding in) improving the original series. Bril.
