The Skinwalker has to be somewhat scared of Dresden considering Dresden is a child as far as wizards go and it got nearly got its ass handed to it by him.

Hopefully we will really get to see Harry cut loose, since he will most likely be fighting vampires the laws of magic dont really apply. I have always thought he held himself back due to his fear of dark magic. But if it really is his child, god help the son of a bitch who gets in Dresden's way.

 

I'm.. I'm really not sure how I feel about Harry having a kid.

 

I love the summary, we have seen Dresden fight but we he has never been so motivated. I hope he doesn't get his ass kicked at the beggining just to greow stronger and kick the ass of the villain.

 

@ rehio: We still dont know that it is Dresden's daughter. Just that he believes so. Blurbs and jacket descriptions have been deceiving enough in the past to take this with just a grain of salt.

On the other hand--Dresden is about to go all kinds of badass. On whoever gets in his way. I can't wait to see how it goes, not to mention the fallout afterwards.

I don't know how I feel about this book. First point is Harry possibly having a child (highly likely considering he did have sex with her and I can't see Susan risking her curse being spread just for a quick lay), but second is the completely awesome potential I see for mass destruction heading straight for South America. Seriously, my favourite scene in the entire series is Harry letting everything go against Bianca and burning her place to the ground (second of course being Sue), so this is bound to be epic.

 

I would bet that this makes what happened to Bianca's place look like a match beside a wild fire. When you think about how much he has grown in terms of power and skill, I have no doubt this will be a pretty bonfire with fireworks and bodys.

 

Add to the fact that we only need look to the White Night flashback (the ghouls at Camp Kaboom) to see just how cold Dresden can be when enraged...recipe for catastrophic damage.

 

I didn't realize I could dislike her even more than I did. First she gets bit endangering everyone around her, then she runs off from the one person who could have helped her, now she has his kid (apparently) and hid the child from him.

This is going to be rich.

I can only hope the kid is a lie.

 

Granted, back then he was still being subconsciously influenced by Lasciel's Shadow and more prone to 'darker' emotions. Granted, I can't see him not getting obscenely pissed at anyone who threatens a child.

I also don't see the child living at the end of the book if it really is his, and I have a feeling it will be. Child dies, Dresden does heinous damage to the Red Court, and... fall out with the White Council? Will he be a hero or on the executioner's block for instigating a war against the Red Court in violent and fiery manner again?

 

My fear is Butcher will go the route of the Dark Tower series and the kid will turn out to be Harry's new nemesis.
That being said, I can't see Jim setting lose the Anti-Christ in a 5 year old... but child villans are creepy. Damien, the Annointed One, Rosemary's Baby, any one of a hundred other bad horror movies...

 

Actually, there is supposed to be an Apocalypse on the horizon, and the number of Biblical references has been steadily rising through the books (complete with Lucifer himself lending a hand to the Denarians), so maybe we are looking at a complete religious End of Days scenario in the works.

 

I figure the apocalypse will have to do with the Black Council's plans finally coming into the open.
