It was a good chapter, but the ending had me going :awesome.

 

Very interesting chapter, can't wait to see everyone flip a shit at the coup.

I am surprised at the whole idea of it though. I mean, I get that this Harry is a bit grittier and that he's doing his own "for the greater good" but eternal sleep?

But at least he isnt some "leader of the light" crap that most make Harry out to be.

 

Right at first I thought the potion idea was cool. Now that I've thought about it though, I can see some major problems.

First, AD is known as the reason Voldemort hasn't attacked the School. With Dumbledore out of play, it will appear to be a much softer target. Harry isn't intending to stay on campus with all his team indefinitely. And the blood golem was stolen.

Second, are they intending to bury AD? If not, if Harry intends to pretend that AD is still active, then he will need the full cooperation of the Order. He might not get it. Tonks, the Weasleys, probably most of the staff are Dumbledore's loyalists. Snape is just waiting to stab him in the back. The students are variously useless, Death Eater sympathizers, or AD supporters. There are a few who might be assets, but certainly not against a determined attack.

Third, *I* wouldn't want Fawkes as an enemy. He's relatively ineffectual right now, but he can wait.

I'm going back to reread the story.

 

I blame DLP. I finally went back and reread Bungle and got caught up in TML.

It was sort of weird "coming back" to Hogwarts after spending time with Harry on his own gig in Bungle. That said, I like how Harry is struggling with his dual-identity thing with trying to be independent, but having Dumbledore trying to slot him into Hogwarts. Definitely positive points on the mercenary work against Death Eaters. Nice work with the Draught, though I'm still trying to find the competency meter regarding Voldemort/Dumbledore in this universe.

Bungle makes Voldemort look competent and capable, but then we get the first battle with Death Eaters in TML with Harry wiping the floor with Dolohov (sp?). I'm still trying to reconcile Voldemort's capabilities (if any) with the general Death Eater failure. Or maybe it's just Voldemort unable to recruit any capable help.

 

It seems to me that Dolohov went in expecting to smack a child and got smacked himself. Simple underestimation. If I remember right, no one beyond Kwan and Bill knew just what Harry was capable of then so its perfectly understandable that Harry would capitalize on that and a veteran Death Eater would lose.

 

I just found TML and I believe I might be in love. Seriously.
It's one of the few fics that are written well in second person, and I'm a sucker for your Harry.

And Bill. He's one of the few Weasleys I can stand, so thats a big Plus in my opinion. Update, update, update, please.

 

From the wording of the end of the chapter ("Don’t worry. We’ll try to remember to wake you for the final battle.”), I got the impression that it's only eternal sleep if they keep dosing him, and that it's basically a Romeo and Juliet potion, to get him out of the way and put him on ice for a while while Harry does whatever the fuck he wants sans meddling headmasters.

 

I think there´s probably some kind of antidote, Sadrice.

Other than that.. keep up the good work, JBern! I love your fics.

That said, I like this Voldemort as well. In TFtCD, Voldemort was smart and charming in his own way, and had a madness all his own. This Dark Lord just seems kind of fucking crazy. I like that.
