I considered that story a guilty pleasure a while back, but I stopped following it. I checked out the reviews fairly recently, and don't plan on reconsidering my decision. Reading about Harry being raped just ain't my cup of tea.

 

I've been following that story. Strangely (and fortunately) I managed to miss the rape scene, though I did learn about it later.

Anyway, I am disappoint with the new chapter, for the author completely pulled out of his/her ass that Lily was Morfin Gaunt's lovechild (LOL WTF). I'll still read it though, it's somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me.

I hate stories where he gets raped. I still have nightmares about that fic where Harry lets himself get repeatedly raped to save two girls or something.

 

Amerision did a pretty good job with his, even if it was for the lulz and not a serious story.

 

I liked a few where Harry was the rapist back in the day, but maybe that was just because I liked almost everything HET and smutty back then, if it wasn't below my relatively low writing standards.

Doesn't make much sense in retrospect, since rape is generally NOT about sex, only proving ones power over somebody.

And to stay on topic, here's an HP/Naruto X-Over I found strangely enjoyable.
Summary: The Mirror of Erised doesn't show first-year Harry Potter his family. In fact, he doesn't recognize the image at all. But the reflection sparks something in his soul, and Harry starts remembering a life that isn't his.

Maybe this fic is doomed to fail like others in this genre, which is one of the reasons why it's here.

This is a crack-tastic story involving a Harry raised by Deadpool. So far the story has been much more hit than miss, not losing a single beat so far while it has transitioned from Marvel-verse to Hogwarts.

It is a little short however, and it's unknown if the author can maintain the level of humor.

It's a great way to spend 10-15 minutes reading.

Herman comes up with a way to get Harry out of the tourney. a little too much "I'm 14 and found the love of my life" but the Ron bashing sorta makes up for it...sorta

 

Less bashing and toilet humour, and the story might have turned out pretty decent.

As it stands, I consider it closer to the barely readable side of the spectrum.

Have to admit that I'm still following it though, for curiosity's sake.

 

Pretty much this, except that I gave up after the fourth chapter and have no interest in where it leads. Once upon a time I would've enjoyed this, but different standards and all...

This Fic is everything I should hate - some twisted sort of slave bonding system, manipulative Dumbledore, letter from Sirius that solves everything...

If you can get past the realistations of truelove in the first chapter, it is however, written well; characterisations are accurate in my opinion, and there does seem to be the promise of an actual plot once we get past the beginning. And the smut is surprisingly good

Two or three years ago this would have been up there, but I feel Ive read it all before. Still, a nice guilty pleasure

 

Meh. I skimmed this for about eight chapters or so, and then I couldn't go on. The writer engages in so much pointless summary and narration that even the best smut in the world--which this decidedly isn't--couldn't save it from being tedious. And then there's this:

We learn at one point that Remus repeatedly raped a 12-year-old Tonks, who had previously been sold into slavery to Sirius. When Harry and Hermione learn of this, they don't even blink. Not one word of comfort to Tonks, and not one word of condemnation for Remus. Harry begins banging Tonks, and Remus somehow becomes his most trusted adviser. It's one of the least believable characterizations/scenarios I've ever seen in fan fiction, and is a story-killer no matter what follows it.

 

I'm not a fanfic fanatic, but I truly wish to know where you live, so I can beat you to death.

Um... Good characterisation, you say?

There are plenty of ways to write believable H/Hr pairing, but this...is not one of them. The fic starts with Harry suddenly realising that he wants Hermione. This is crappy writing but nothing too bad, although I usually click the red X at this point. Unfortunately it just goes worse; He doesn't ask her for a date, he flat-out asks her to marry him.

Ridiculous? Yeah, I know.

Ron freaks out. No wonder, I would have freaked out too. However, he doesn't freak out because how utterly absurd Harry's proposal is, but because Hermione is supposedly his girl (even though they are not dating).

Now, had Hermione acted even remotely canon-like, this fic would have tiny chance to actually become readable, but no. She says she loves him and accepts. Okay, I guess she could love him, why not? But canon Hermione would never agree to marry anyone without dating him for at least a year or two. She's the type to not make hasty romantic decisions like that without even seeing if they are really compatible.

And that was just the first chapter. I could go on about how ridiculous it is that wizards enslave witches when they have equal magical power. Not to mention that this fic makes wizards utter bastards...

Oh, and the fic doesn't have "manipulative Dumbledore." It has stupid and evil Dumbledore that does everything seemingly just for lulz.

Also, I see exactly where this is going. Harry and the witch's secret(?) version 2...or whatever its name is. That fic where Harry shags everyone and thier grandmother...

 

Although this story is in my opinion far better than most of the fanfics out there, I very much doubt that it would make the library so I posted it here.

Things I liked:
- Complete and pretty well plotted story.
- Writing is good enough (although my standards may be lower because English is my third language.)
- For me it was captivating enough to read it out in one go.
- I liked the idea although I can see people not liking it.

As the title suggests someone plays a 'cat and mouse' game with Harry(who is an Auror) and his friends because he/she wants revenge on Harry. Harry and friends get notes with what they have to do and so on.

Aside from surviving and finding the 'Cat', a lot of attention goes to Harry/Ginny pairing. They haven't spoken the two last years after Ginny broke up with Harry, who has no idea why she did it. And surprise, surprise, Harry still loves her and she still loves him. The reason why she left him is kept a secret pretty long and has to do with the rest.

There are probably a lot of people here who will hate the story already but although I wasn't that enthusiastic about the romance in this fic I found it tolerable enough. Harry/Ginny pairing in general I have no problem with.

Other than that there were a few instances where I found it a little bit harder to suspend disbelief but it didn't bother me that much.

The fic isn't mindblowingly amazing but it's good enough so that I didn't regret reading it.
I'd give it a 3 although it's closer to a 4 than a 2.

 

It's Harry/Ginny. Harry/Ginny=AutoFail around here.

 

This one is worth a read.

Not Harry centric, ( focuses on Andromeda) but reasonably well written.
