So I just put together my new rig: quad-core 2.6Ghz, RAM 6GB, ATI 5770, etc etc. Oh and a screen with 2048x1152 resolution.

So, I need games to test out my system.

I haven't played a single thing since COD4 or anything in the last year.

Got any recommendations for games that I can test my system with? Good visuals etc.

I stand by my rec of Mass Effect, if nothing more than to see what you're after, stronger RPG things, or stronger FPS/TPS things, as whichever side you find ME lacking most, you'd likely want to go that path. Plus, ME2 is coming out in a few weeks.

World of Goo.

(Definitely won't max out your system, but it's kinda fun.)

 

Definitely at least try the World of Goo demo, what it lacks in graphics it makes up in ingenuity and sheer personality. After playing the demo, I couldn't buy it fast enough.

If you liked CoD 4 you should definitely try modern warfare 2 although you should probably play it on the 360 or ps3 if at all possible because the PC version blows.

It's not that the pc version blows per se, but infinity ward did next to nothing when porting the game to pc, so features that would normally be a no-brainer in a pc fps such as a developer console and dedicated servers just aren't there.
