There is some, actually. The website for Rule34 had a bit up within a week of the movie coming out.

I saw the movie last night. I don't feel like giving a proper review, but my general thoughts towards the movie were "meh." It was okay. Absolutely beautiful- especially since I saw it in 3D- but nothing special beyond that.

Indeed - IIRC the specific technobabble explanation goes like this: unobtanium is a room-temperature superconductor. The floating mountains have a shitload of unobtanium, and this causes them to rise in the presence of the gas giant's vast magnetic field...or the interaction between that field and the planet's field. Something like that, anyway.

Yep, it's only a matter of time. Until then, enjoy a teaser... 0_o

Saw it this afternoon. I spent the first twenty minutes sitting their with my jaw open. After that, I was less impressed.

Sure, it's visually stunning, and a hugely impressive tech demo. But the characters were flat, the plot was derivative and predictable, and the message about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the face. If he goes on to make sequels, then he might realise the potential, but as it is, I wasn't overly impressed.

TL;DR: Ewoks vs Stormtroopers, but prettier.

Visually, it was stunning, plot wise it was a bit simplistic yada yada anyway, what I am looking forward to is the next lot of animated movies made with the technology created by this film. I guess that that may be one of the reasons they happy to since $500 into Camrons pet project, hit or flop they can take the tech, patient it and sell/rent it to others studios.

If he is doing a trilogy, seeing what the computer generated Na'vi would look like on earth would be awesome, barring that, space tourists.

The suits-to-cgi isn't new; they did the same in I-Robot and for Gollum in LOTR.

I liked this film purely because Colonel-Scarface was so fucking badass. Otherwise it was pretty average, as most people have been saying. I think because everyone went into the film expecting the amazing graphical stuff it allowed them to focus on the lackluster plot. If the graphics hadn't been so bigged-up pre-release then the shock and awe would have been far greater and perhaps drawn some attention away from the story. But, such is the way of criticism.

The suit CGI isnt new, but the method that they used allowed them to see the CGI right away without having to go back to the studio for over a year. Plus I think the entire world was CGI and the interactions of the actors with the CGI environment.

What are the other two movies going to be about? The original script was posted in this thread and I did not see a story or reason for sequels? Na'vi on earth? Would that mean they try to bring the "green back to earth" or something?

I've seen it twice now, both times I was high out of my mind. Best movie to see on drugs in a long time. I didn't care about the plot, just sat back and enjoyed all the pretty colors.

I just meant I would like to see if they could make the Na'vi seem real and there in an environment we are familiar with.

As for why they are there, diplomacy? To generate enough good PR that the the Company cant just come back and carpet-bomb them? The humans left behind some terrible disease? who knows?

Just saying I would think that Carmon wouldn't do a storyline just with the Na'vi and no humans because it probably wouldn't appeal as much to the mainstream public, especially since the 'wow' factor of the graphics would have passed.

Well theres always the clean up. All those ships that were destroyed had to have leaked oil and other toxins into the environment.

Plus just becuase RDA was defeated doesnt mean that another company wont try something.
Or they could judt do a prequel. How Pandora was found, the first contact crap and then the first attack.

Cameron has stated in interviews that the next movies will be sequels to this one and will focus on Jake and Neytiri still.

That it was his first film (I think... right? I'm about to go to bed, too tired to fact-check), and was not intended to start off a multi-million dollar career as a director?

    ... I like the Terminator. >_>
