I rate stories based on what they do for me. If the story was enjoyable and kept me interested such that I lost track of time, yeah it deserves a 5/5. This story did just that. Grammar obviously wasn't an issue, the pairing wasn't lame (cant remember if there isn't one) and the plot itself isnt bad at all.

Sure the premise itself is kinda "wtf". But this doesn't make it a bad story. Hell, the premise of Harry Potter itself is stupid. Hardly makes JKR's books bad, no?

If you think I'm a Jbern fanboy, go right ahead. Who really gives a shit? He's just a fanfiction writer who got lucky enough to attract a large following. If you guys can't stop being jealous of his E-Penis, then there's something seriously wrong with your common sense.

Is there any reason to even justify your review? No one gives a fuck. You already rated the story and gave your thoughts. There's honestly no need to expand.

I'd rather wait until more is out, but going with how it's already here I might as well. While I usually enjoy jbern's other stories this one just falls flat. The humor just doesn't sit well with me, and I just don't really care for the Divinator!Harry. All in all I just can't connect with the story. Points for grammer and a well flowing two chapters, but everything else isn't my cup of tea.

    2/5.

INB4 Harry give's someone his 11 secret herbs and spices.

I think it's funny and I like the style it' very Rorschachsblot and the one-chapter-per-anno format. The characterizations are solid.

    5/5

    It has been updated.

The story while good enough is not without its flaws. The main problem that I felt was that there were no particularly humourous moments in the story. While it did make me smile at times, there were no really funny situations or lines. And at times the story was a bit of a drag to read through.

Also, during the start of the third chapter, the different scenes were not separated so it was bit hard to follow.

It is nice enough but there is no hook to draw the reader in unlike Jim's other stories. I will probably keep reading it if only because it is fairly well-written and because Jim is a good author.

    My story rating 3/5.

It was okay, but nothing noteworthy. The premise is pretty interesting, but it gets mediocre very quickly. I think my favorite part of this story is Colonel Sanders (which has nothing to do with divination), but it doesn't draw me in.

It's a good time waster, but that's about it. 3/5 for the quality of writing.

After reading the newest chapter I'm going to have to step onto the bandwagon and declare the lulz gone from this one. Solid writing style but the novelty is starting to wear off. Quickly.

The only thing I like about this story is the DiceRolling!Harry. I got some friends in my street that will roll with him. 30 dollar buy in.

I like Dumbledore during the staff meeting. His attempts to calm down the staff and change the topic are well done.

    Apart from that: meh.

    Updated.

I liked this chapter. Best so far I think.

I especially liked the Harry/Lavender and his reasoning why he should ask her to the ball. It was quite funny.

    'Naked frolicking'
    for the win.

I liked the first task and Harry's very unique solution to it. The ending too was very well done. The engorged dragon and the sonorous charm with the egg was very creative and rather unique.

    Rating increased to 4/5.

Pity you're not reading it. It was the best chapter of the story so far and a nice adaptation of Keyes's famous novel, Flowers for Algernon.

I'd never heard of Flowers for Algernon before reading this and now I'm kinda' curious about reading it. The chapter itself was definitely the best so far. I can't wait for the next two.

I'd rate this chapter at a 4.5, but the story as a whole a 3.5.

Flowers for Algernon is a great book. I have it. JBern adapted a story about a retard turned genius into a humor story about paranormal comedy? Wat. Sounds like a great adaptation to me.

The plot was about a retarded man turned genius and back again, but like all good fiction, Flowers for Algernon was about more than that, touching upon themes of seduction, power, arrogance, alienation, the nature of happiness, the horror of losing one's mental faculties, and the biblical notion of knowledge being antithetical to goodness and the divine.

Enough elements of the book are evoked in this chapter that I thought it a fair adaptation and I don't feel that the chapter disrespected the source material. Rather, despite the innocent tone of jbern's story throughout, it takes a dark, tragic turn in the Padma passages (particularly after her fall) and evokes some of the dread I recall from Flowers. It doesn't completely go there--the story is still a comedy and it couldn't without doing a disservice to both.

While we both feel Flowers for Algernon was exceptional fiction, perhaps we can agree to disagree on the merits of this chapter. I thought it was the best of this story so far, though I certainly did not intend to rank it in the same lofty category as that classic novel.

Agreed, this was definitely the best chapter yet in Inner Eye. The first one I genuinely enjoyed.
