Yes, the two newest games in the series are out and about. We've talked a bit about them on IRC, but there's been a distinct lack of a topic here on the forums.

I've cracked open SoulSilver, and it's like a continuous orgasm. I'm not shy about my belief that Gold and Silver were the best games of the entire series, so my opinion might be a little tainted because of that, but regardless, these games are amazing. They're able to recapture the magic of the original games in a way that FireRed and LeafGreen weren't able to do with the original Red and Blue/Green.

So, for those of you who have the game, what's the current consensus? Best thing since sliced bread? I've already got my final team started. Heh heh heh.

 

Definitely pretty good so far. I started HG today and I’m currently in Azalea Town. Already, I’m attached to the graphics and the music, which are both amazing. My final team has also been started and I’m wondering if I should grab a Slowpoke before leaving Azalea. I’m pretty sure you can catch them there and a Slowking would certainly look nice on my final team.

 

Provided you have someone to trade with. Luckily, the DS makes that a lot more likely.

 

Started HG; nice, but not mind-blowing. Granted, I only started, but it's very similar to gen 2 thus far. [except for graphics, which I'm not sure are better. The interface is nice, though.] It should be more interesting later in the game, so I'm open-minded.

 

Very fun game. Working on the Elite Four at the moment, and Lance is a fucking asshole.

 

Given that HG is a remake in the remake-y sense, being similar to gen 2 is expected, right?

Going to have to wait a few days, but I'm grabbing SoulSilver first chance I get. I'm rather intrigued by any changes, and combine that with nostalgia and a general Pokemon fanboyishism, it's a must buy.

 

Well, sure, but I did expect additions - which are later in the game, if Bulbapedia is correct.

I would get it if it wasnt for the fact that a DS and one of the games comes to 180 quid.

Fucking loved the old pokemon, unfortunately they were given away when I was a kid. If there was a game with all of ther regions I'd probably buy it but then there'd be no reason for them to make anymore, therefore they'd lose money.

Now with the WiFi (I think DS has it?) there can be the events that allow people to get pokemon and special events (i.e. Giovanni but I won't say anymore as its a spoiler).

I got the emulator version of heartgold, and I love the shit out of it so far.

 

EDIT: No talkity talk of that kinda stuff.

 

Its actually legal if you already have the game and then download the rom, AFAIK.
