So, who/what else other than Isshin, is Ichigo a son of? Shinigami and...?

Eh, I've always felt Ichigo's mother was more than we were led to believe. Maybe she was actually a hollow or a hollow-shikigami of Aizen's? While this whole development feels forced, it's possible he's responsible for Ichigo's oddities (his reiatsu effecting others).

Wasn't Ichigo's mother killed by a hollow? Not even a particularly strong hollow either.

Still, this is shonen so I suppose I'll not discount the idea straight off.

Was it a weak hollow? I mean, I remember Ichigo fighting it at one point, but didn't it run away? It had a long tongue. I guess I'd have to go re-read the beginning, but you're right and it's my point that this is shounen. If Aizen is pulling keikaku doori on us, it's not too hard to believe that Ichigo's mother was special in some way. I mean, Isshin doesn't show any odd characteristics. How can Ichigo's uniqueness be explained?

It ran away, and if I remember correctly, it did make an appearance again after the fact at some point, if only for a second. Probably some foreshadowing. As it stands, Ichigo would tear Grand Fisher apart unless it had some sort of severe power-up (I'm guessing Aizen isn't going down here, and in the next arc, Grand Fisher will be one of the new bodyguards to kill).

Am I the only one who remembers Isshin killing Grand Fisher?

...Or am I just imagining things again?

Honestly, Aizen would have won the battle after he mind-fucked Ichigo like that. I just hope that Ichigo's not Shinigami/Quincy.

My moneys on Ichigo's mom being the daughter of the Spirit King.

After reading the Bleach wiki on the Kurosaki family and the Grand Fisher ... I guess it's safe to conclude that whatever Ichigo is, it isn't the result of his parents. I mean, his sisters exhibit spiritual powers, but they aren't very special. Ichigo's mother was also a full human. I suppose she could have had powers like Orihime, but she didn't use them to protect herself or Ichigo if she had them.

I wouldn't place any confidence in information from early in the Bleach series. Kubo has been quoted at various Jump Festivals that he has no real idea where the series is going and he makes a lot of it up as he goes along.

Is one of those among others.

Early Bleach has had its fair number of retcons (Rukia's explanation about Hollow ranks) and plot points ignored after introduction (gates of Hell).

If Kubo said that Masaki was the embodiment of Satan I honestly wouldn't be very surprised.

More importantly, why is your avatar from a P4 hentai?

~anyways, like said, more Gin. He was a fav of mine since he got introduced. And hell...

/well, we still have Royal Guard, Hell, whatever is past the Gate to the King of Soul Society... I guess I'll just be patient.

Well if that kind of power runs in the family, I can't wait to see Isshin go balls to the wall.

Can I has Epileptic Trees? / Go Go Kubo-chan Hell Arc!

Theory: Isshin is really the spirit king. Hanatarou comes out of nowhere and (after healing everyone with his sword) unleashes his wave motion cannon / bankai, one-shoting Isshin and Aizen. Just as planned, etc. etc. Hanatarou is now the Spirit King. He proceeds to open the gates of Hell (dooming the world) on a quest to bone Ichigo's Mom. Discuss. Or not. I maintain Hanatarou would be an epic villan however.

    On a side note:

This coming from the baddest mofo in the Asian Sea is almost believable...

...But it would still probably be Aizen in disguise.

    Aizen is actually Ichigo's father.

    /spoiler

In all seriousness, did anyone else notice that Aizen's little lecture to Ichigo approached narm?

Man it's about time things are getting wrapped up. The constant one-upmanship was getting kind of old.

Approaching, yes, since Ichigo screaming a big WTF at Aizen was pretty hilarious.

New chapter is out in a few hours, good to see Gin bankai. Means they don't consider Ichigo completely worthless trash now. Still trash, but trash they should use bankai on.
