So here's the story: I have a new computer and I want to install Fate/Stay Night on it. So, now I have the CD images. Now here's my problem...

Daemon Tools doesn't work on Windows 7, MagicISO doesn't want to work properly, and Virtual CloneDrive doesn't read .cue files. What do?

Sorry if I'm not explaining my problem properly, but if anyone needs to ask questions to answer my question, I'll answer away.

Dameon tools works perfectly fine on windows 7 for me. I know that it wouldn't work when 7 was back as an RC. Have you even tried using it?

I tried, but the last time I did was a month ago. Has there been a new release since then? Hang on, I'm checking.

Daemon works perfectly fine in Windows 7. I even used it in the RC. I dunno why everyone else had trouble with it.

"This program requires at least Windows 2000 with SPTD 1.60 or higher. Kernel debugger must be deactivated."

Every. Fucking. Time. I've done everything I can just short of messing around in the registry, which I'm always hesitant to do.

I'll give that a whirl if DT doesn't work after some of the stuff I'm trying. I'll get back with an edit after I reboot and try again.

    EDIT #1: Wait for it...

    EDIT #2:

Daemon Lite works perfectly fine. So, you must either be retarded, or don't know how to follow installation prompts.

If you're trying the other versions, I know that there was some existing problems between it and Windows 7. However, the version of Daemon I have, even has a Win 7 Desktop Widget for loading games that way.

    Atleast you got it working.

In my defense, I'm neither retarded nor incapable of following prompts. It was all the SPTD stuff.

I'm pretty sure that the problem was that I had installed Daemon Tools on my computer before I upgraded it to Windows 7, and that caused major errors in the registry. Now that those are all fixed and I know how, I'll be able to avoid similar problems in the future.

Its never a good idea to upgrade to Windows 7. The shit thats with Vista carries over into your 7 registry. Had it been a fresh install, I highly doubt you would've faced those same problems.

Most likely. Though, this means that if I want to make sure this kind of stupid shit doesn't happen again, I'm gonna have to sit down for a few days and organize/clean-out my registry of things either unneeded or from before the update that could cause problems down the road.

    ...Sigh...

Just get a registry management tool that does it for you. I use Tune Up Utilities. It works very well.

A tempting idea, but I'm gonna hold off on the reformat. There's a lot of other work I have to do and I don't any of the installation discs where I am now.

Tune Up doesn't suck Oz, you're just too fat fingered to use it.

I know how frustrating it can be, being unable to get a program to work, but I hardly think the situation is that desperate.

    Drinking is never the solution.

Unless the problem is, "How can I get drunk?" :awesome

Apologies for hijacking this thread, but I had a similar problem the other tday and put off installing FSN.

Do I need Alcohol 120% to install FSN? With 50% I can mount the images just fine and install it, but the translation patch has copy protection and refuses to do anything.

If you're having super difficulty you can find versions which are ready to play straight from download.

^ Those take quite a while to download if from a torrent. No, now that I know it works, I would recommend Daemon Tools.

http://daemonpro-help.com/?id=932 <---Should fix the major problems if you have any.

BTW now that I'm playing it again, I've gotten this great idea for a HP/FSN cross. Stupid Jon and Syao, making it hard for anyone else to write something noteworthy...

Yeah, I could, but I do already have the Jap version downloaded.

I'll see what I can do. I was just curious, what does another program have that Alcohol doesn't? FSN's patch must be monitoring my computer's processes somehow and determining that I'm using images instead of original disks – which seems impossible since FSN does not have any serial or anything that would even let the patcher know how to distinguish them apart.
