Not exactly, Side Jobs will be published in October.

Even before that we will get our Dresden fix in the form of Marcone POV story from Dark and Stormy Knights on July 20.

You assume that Side Jobs will provide answers.

    I certainly hope so.

Worst case scenario: we will learn the inner thoughts of Karin Murphy concerning wizard Dresden. We'll just have to wait and see.

Butcher said it was 45 minutes after Changes. I wonder what that suggests. I mean without outside interference, 45 minutes after being shot, Harry would be long dead.

My guess is that its either Murphy in a hospital watching over a critically injured Harry that she/someone pulled out of the water, or its Murphy arriving at the boat to meet with Harry and finding no one there and assuming that Harry has gone to Mab. Or it is Murphy grieving a dead Harry.

I sped read this book and enjoyed it a lot. I don't know where to begin, really.

Probably not my favorite of the series, that's still Turn Coat, but it is up there. It has a lot of threads that are going to have to be explained and stuff.

I really don't know what to think at this point. WK shit is totally amazing, Martin being all like "fuck you all" was awesome, and Dresden's power growing massively is just getting more and more evident. He stared at the mother fucking merlin and told him to his face to 'try it.' You don't do that to the Merlin unless a part of your mind is telling you that he isn't prepared for the fury you are going to unleash upon him at that moment. There was no thought of "what the fuck why did I say that" or "I hope my bluffing skills had improved" it was simply a staredown. That spoke volumes to me about the tone of the book. Harry basically spent the whole book looking at people and telling them to back off, and either they backed off or they fucking died. That is telling.

I freaking loved it. It lived up to it's title.

I giggled for about five minutes when Mouse spoke. There was more then one reference to Mouse being some sort of demon which is interesting.

Lea changing Harry and Susan's clothes really annoyed me. I think he would look more badass with his leather jacket. But I supposed it saved his life in many ways.

I was a bit confused about Odin. Did that come out of nowhere, or did I miss something?

I wonder if Maggie will be able to recall Harry slitting Susan's throat, she might have been too out of it though, but it she did and carries that memory to when she is older... how would she feel about him? Would she want revenge? Maybe she won't have the whole story, because I can't really see anyone really explaining it to her. Maybe someone might even intentionally keep the truth from her, or only tell her that Harry killed her mother. Manipulating her to go after Harry.

Was also peeved about how we didn't find out what Harry lost when he accepted the gem from Lea. I wonder if he even knows.

I'm looking forward to the next book and am wondering if he somehow was teleported in front of a moving train... weird.

Just in reference to not knowing what Harry lost in exchange for the gem-I believe Lea made reference to his mother losing her ability to sleep soundly. In the end of the book, right before he talks to Murphy on the WB; there's a rather long "montage" about Harry trying to sleep but not being able to. Not a definitive answer as to what he lost considering what he'd just been through-but I'd say it's a pretty big possibility.

    Huh. I like that.

Though it's also a possibility that he was just too emotional, or whatever, to sleep.

But if you're right.. that would be interesting.

EDIT: Question is though. Did he lose the ability or the need to sleep?

Maybe what he loses is his life when someone shoots in in the chest to steal a powerful magical artefact from him <_<

It's entirely possible that the sleep thing is due to his being the WK, wouldn't you say?

I originally thought Lea's gift as well, in that regard, but its just too ambiguous to really have an answer.

Monoc Securities(One-Eye), Norse theme all that jazz?

Anyways just finished reading the book and damn just damn, that was fuck win awesome shit. I loved pretty much every bit about it except for the end and thats only because I'm going to have to wait a year for the cliffy.

Anyways parts I found interesting, I thought Mouse was a Foo Dog which was supposed to be semi-divine as I had gathered but from everything said about him in Changes it seems he's some sort of demon, "Ice-Demon of the North" or something like that is how Esmerelda put it I think and Lea "You are far from your sources of power here demon" makes me very curious as to what exactly Mouse is.

Mab broadcasting her screwing Harry over Winter pay-per-view was just too damned funny and Sanyas reaction was priceless.

I loved how Harry simply informing people that he'll deal with less than reputable sources if he wants something is a legitimate threat for people now.

Loved seeing the actual Blackstaff and Eb in action, that little Jedi hand-wave murderfest trick was awesome.

Very happy he and Murphy never got around to screwing, honestly never liked her much, she has gotten better but the 18,000 rants about how Chicago was her city and she was bound to protect kinda spoiled the character for me.

Loved every single scene with Mab as usual.

Honestly I just freaking loved this whole book and it raised a whole bunch of fun ideas, like don't tell me Im the only one whos curious about how things would have gone if Harry had gotten extra special desperate and busted out Lasciels coin or even the Darkhallow?

Yeah, there's definite potential for AU fanfic right there. Thing is, both of them are kinda drastic. As in, Darkhallow takes the death of a few million people. Harry would literally be guilty of genocide. That's the kind of thing that the world would notice.

Oh I agree and it normally wouldn't be anything you could realistically consider Harry doing but given what we've seen in Changes I think its fair to say while Harry is generally an all around good guy, if he's desperate enough he'll set the world on fire to save his blood.

    FUCKING CLIFFHANGERS

    Ahem.

Just finished my first read through of it and my mind is still so completely blown I can't really articulate it.

My one big speculation though ...

Remember way back when the Red Court took a little romp through Winter territory? I think that Mab just got her revenge on them...

Funny thing, I hadn't even considered that-But definitely good point. She got a servant and basically made it clear "Don't fuck with Winter, we'll genocide your ass".

Hell, the real winner here is Mab by a longshot.

Just a thought-But has anyone considered that after Harry was shot and fell off the Water Beetle, he may have been going through a way?

I mean, I know the idea is drastic as all hell, and really only half supported by speculation, but think it through. He started heading down a tunnel of light (a possible way opening), and heard his mothers voice-Which he's heard at other periods of traveling through the ways. Then he distinctly hears a oncoming train.

Just to be clear-I'm the first to say the idea is half assed, but still a possibility.

Lol no man genocide is when you simply wipe out a large number, he violently ripped the hearts out of the chests of every member of the species ever. Thats got to be one hell of a message about Mab, for Mab she gets the fact that Red Court fucked with her property and their entire species went extinct for it, if that isn't up on there on the top five of "Reasons not to fuck with someone list" I'm not sure what its.

Oh also, I want to see that pussy Fix reflexively shit himself when he finds out.

Um... What most people will know is that the Red Court vampires took a single human girl and Dresden killed them all for it. He announced that he will kill everyone who tries to stop him in front of the entire White Council, and then, a day later, the whole Red Court suddenly lost their heart. That's going to lead to an interesting reputation...

Most of the wardens are wary of Dresden and they do have a reason. As long as they know he is a warlock who single-handedly killed Summer Lady, stopped Kemmler's disciples when Morgan and Luccio could not and stood his ground against shagnasty. And than he becomes winter knight and makes one court of vampires extinct... We, readers, know that he had shitload of luck and help from others, they don't :D

Or, as Mab will spin it-The reds trespassed on her territory. After biding her time, Harry becomes her servant and poof-No red court. All a matter of who's telling the story, and the Sidhe are excellent truth twisters.
