    Harry Potter reboot sounds good.

    Keyword: Sounds.

I know I don't want to read something about his kids or him 'fighting another dark lord with Ginny at his side, not even if she kills her off because then we'd just end up with having the mourning of Bitch Whore angst.

I don't want another full-length story in the Potter universe - it seems like that's the easiest thing to fuck up. If she's going to write again in the Potter world, I'd want:

    1. A reference book of some sort in which she explains some of the mechanics of her world's family trees, bureaucracies, magic, etc. No, she would not be able to coherently explain some of the logical traps she's made for herself (particularly with regards to the nature of magic), but the attempt might be amusing. Supposedly she's said already that she wants to do something like this, hasn't she?

    2. A collection of short stories - let's say an average of 5,000 words each, in a single 200,000 word book. I'd like to see a mix of past and future stuff, plus some 'missing moments' from the canon years.

If she wrote another series of books based in the Potterverse I'd prefer if she didn't actually focus on Harry or his family this time around. I know a lot of people have a dislike for stories not centered around the main character (Harry in this case), but I think Rowling can't go wrong if she creates a whole new story based in the Potterverse with new characters and a different location. Admit it; it would be uber awesome to have a new series with characters going to Durmstrang.

However, I'd so nerd rage if she rewrote the series as a Wrong!BWL story or Neville as the BWL.

No you are all wrong, she will rewrite it with Harry as a female who becomes married to Snape.

No. You're all missing the obvious home-run hit for Rowling, as far as a new generation of Potter-aholics goes: She'd write the next book/series from Lily Luna Potter's POV.

    Let's examine, shaaallllllll we?

    1. With the youngest of the 3 Potter kids as the protagonist, she gets (a) big brothers (esp. James) to be all big-brotherly and protective, and all that to break out against, (b) Lily can feel less loved as the only girl and even though she's named after Lily, she doesn't look anything like hero!Harry, etc. and (c) it's built-in that she's the one to prove to everyone that she can take care of herself as both a girl and the youngest. Plus, it would allow a bunch of bullshit Ginny-Lily bonding talk.

    2. Ready-made crushing and future-UST with no-doubt hunky!-but-dangerous!Scorpius Malfoy, whose eye she'll of course catch no later than on her way to the Sorting Hat. With that settled, Rowling can steer LLP through a few misguided crushes and Mr. Wrongs before having her accept her "Twue Wuvv" with Scorpius. And of course there's the ready-made family tensions, both with her own family and his.

    3. Since Albus Severus was sort of touted as a lot like Harry at the end of DH, with the exception that ASP looked to be at least somewhat prepared for entering Hogwarts, Rowling has a perfect opportunity to showcase a character close to "How Harry would have been, sans Voldemort". In this case, I think she'd take the opportunity to have Albus Potter be somewhat of a prodigy (or at least very skilled and talented), and with LLP being the protagonist, Rowling could get away with exactly the same shit she got away with when she wrote Dumbledore; namely, that ASP could be written as casually performing bad-ass magic, well beyond his years, but since the POV is Lily, there's no requirement to explain how he does it or what spells he uses, etc.

    4. There can be no doubt that Rowling has seen what Stephanie Meyer has done (Bram Stoker is Disappoint, BTW), and knows it was done with about one-one-hundredth the talent Rowling had when she wrote, say, Prisoner of Azkaban. You don't think JKR would like to tap the market for young girl readers a bit? She knows that loads of current/former HP readers are going to read whatever she churns out, so why not widen the net and bring in a new generation of girls as well, capitalizing on the craziness spawned by Twilight?

That's my prediction, anyway. Well, it's my prediction of what she'd write if she wrote anything, which I don't believe she'll do, period. Maybe she'll get round to writing that Encyclopedia, the possibility of which she used as a club to bludgeon the HP Lexicon dude with, but even that I'm skeptical about. She's made her mountain of cash, and I don't blame her for not wanting to write any more in that universe, especially since the plot holes and remind me of that Tremors movie.

You're all reading too much into this. She's gonna write again sure, but Fanfiction has deluded you into thinking that she's gonna be able to write a better story. We've already seen it. We all think its cliche. Who gives a shit what she writes about 10 years down the line? I know I'm not gonna care, I'm gonna be 30, I won't be interested in reading pre-teen/young adult fantasy anymore. Especially not from a series that will have practically have been dead for the 10 years leading up to it.

I'd rather NOT read about Albus Severus Potter (in all honesty, every time I hear this name, it makes me think of a damn 3some! Wtf?).

It was someone's avatar at some point. It said "Albus Severus Potter; Name, or a gay threesome?" I really don't know why Harry named his kid this for. In all honesty, if that kid were in the muggle world, he'd be bullied so bad just for having a name like that. "Is that really your name, or are you trying to get into a 3some?" I really would feel sorry for that kid, especially if he's taking after Harry's pussy ass personality. Harry would be passing on his stupidity onto his kid!

I've always believed that Rowling will come back to Harry Potter after ten or twenty years, so this doesn't surprise me. She obviously doesn't need the money, but she probably will miss the fame and the fan anticipation, and who wouldn't feel the temptation, if they were in her position, to stir up an entire new generation with the announcement: "New Harry Potter book coming soon"?

I think Portus's prediction sounds pretty accurate, except that I doubt Rowling will actually ship Lily Luna with Scorpius. That would be too blatant a case of fanservice even for her.

Harry/Ginny had to be planned from the start since she wrote the epilogue with the first book.

She changed the epilogue. I read that in an interview somewhere.

What Lady Sorrows said. Harry/Ginny may have appealed to a large number of fans, but Rowling wrote it because she had it planned all along, not because she knew fans wanted it.

I'd love to see Rowling actually address some of the issues in the post-war wizarding world, as opposed to just showing us the Life and Happy Times of the Potters and the Weasleys, but I'm afraid what she writes will be more the latter than the former.

Well, Rowling said she planned it from the beginning and already had the Epilogue written. I suppose she could be lying. But why? Do you think at one point she was planning Harry/Hermione (or someone else) and changed her mind because she thought Harry/Ginny would make more fans happy? That doesn't make much sense to me.
