No, but it makes sense to her bank account.

She's gonna be rolling in money from that theme park. Even if she only gets 0.25% of the profit, she'll be making as much as my radiologist without doing shit - even assuming she runs out of book-money.

Took her long enough. I guess she saw some idea she liked enough to rip off again, had to give it a few years to get old so folks would forget and think it was new.

She's probably waiting for Joe to finish Wastelands.

IIRC Rowling said in more then one interview that the epilogue was one of the first things she wrote and that was back in 2001.

The biggest change that she admitted making because of fan pressure, was that she let Arthur Weasley live in book 5, the original idea was to let him die in the Ministry of Magic, thus changing the Weasley's to a darker outlook and destroying the Burrow as Harry's safe haven.

And didn't she allready said in 2007 a few week's after DH, that she would write a Potterverse Lexicon (stuff like the bloodstatus of all Hogwarts pupils and what there wands are made of; etc.).

And wasn't that beause she went so far as to sue someone she was friends with?

Conversely, so many fans wanted it merely because of the heavily cliché meeting between Harry and Ginny at the train station in book one, and wanted to be 'right' when they turned out together in the end.

That so very little H/G interaction/development happens in the books makes both the characters' relationship and the 'victory' of those readers being right a very hollow thing indeed.

Just because Rowling had the Epilogue "written" doesn't mean that what we got in DH was exactly what she scribbled down way back when. The fact that she has said the last word was originally "scar" just goes to show that although she might've had the gist of the Epilogue in mind, it certainly wasn't set in stone.

Perhaps she had planned to have Harry talking to one of his kids before boarding the train, but I've never seen anything to make me think she'd already decided the 'ships, who'd have died and/or be left alive, etc.

I suppose the best proof that the Epilogue wasn't set in stone is that (a) Ron refers to Arthur, meaning he's alive, when Rowling says she'd originally planned to off him in OotP, and (b) Teddy is discussed as part of the Potter "family", meaning Remus and Tonks are dead, and Rowling says she only killed them off because she wanted an orphan situation and had to kill someone else after pardoning Arthur. Make sense?

So yeah, even if the basics of the Epilogue were there or even written, that doesn't necessarily mean Harry/Ginny was a foregone conclusion. At least, I hope not... [/stubborn quasi-HHr 'shipper]

EDIT @ Warlocke: I dig that sig pic. Makes me tingle south of the belt-border.

I like your Ginny picture in your signature Seratin. Do you ship HP/GW? I mean the sig picture is a masterpiece... Ginny all alone in the "forbidden" forest... wink wink nudge nudge

Rowling would be all over that. Oh wiat, she already has...

In ten years Jono should be just starting the third one.

I looked up mugglenet for this info:

I find this little piece about Hermione being Harry's neighbour and knowing him/about him before Hogwarts interesting. The story could have been so much more interesting... (I am a HHr fan in the end).

So in ten years you don't want your baby girl reading the series that eventually lead to you joining a fanfiction forum? ;)

I dunno, man; it's a pretty popular fandom - and it has a theme park that'll all but gaurantee another decade of relevance.

Just think, you'll prolly be taking your little one to visit there...unless you pull a Vernon Dursley and pretend it doesn't exist LOLOLOLNERDCHUCKLE :p

Rock! How did something this awesome not make it into the books? Oh yeah, JKR's Weasley obsession.

    Ditto on all points.

Hehe, I made this sig a long time ago and hadn't gotten around to using it. When April Fool's Day arrived, I realized the Inferius!Ginny sig had been up for a whole year, and the Official Hottie Thread was a perfect excuse to use the new one.

I may make her eyes a bit more silvery, like Luna's.

    *Edit* Done, in fact.

If she wrote a book where Harry was having an affair with Luna, I would totally buy it :awesome

But damn Portus man, don't jinx it with scary predictions like that, there is still the possibility that that book, whatever its subject might be, might turn out rather good. Maybe she realized that there were some faults in her writing and taking ten years for the next book she tries to correct those faults in that book and hands us a Harry Potter book as magical and fascinating as the first ones...

    what, it can happen!

But to be fair, I am among those who didn't hate book 6 and 7, only the epilogue.

I think all of you are missing the obvious option, particularly if Rowling has any desire to both introduce the story to a younger audience while still looking to her existing fanbase: pull a fucking George Lucas and write the obvious prequels.

You know the ones - with Snape, James, Sirius, Lupin, Lily, and all the rest of them.

Yeah, we would know how it would all end, but we all knew that in Star Wars too. We also would get a chance to see some of that fleshed out politics and darker atmosphere that was hinted of in the stories, but never really realized. That way, she could appeal to her older fanbase while still appeasing her fantasies by the James/Lily pairing (presuming, that is, that she writes Lily like Hermione, which I can bet she would).

Evidence that this is a possibility? She's already written a short story in this era, featuring James and Sirius. I wouldn't be surprised if that little scrawl is just a snippet of something a lot bigger.

    Also: HOLY SHIT, MIDKNIGHT'S BACK!
