How many of you does actually believe that magic is real?

Me, I hope so. I'd like to think that theres more to life than what meets the eye. I dont know if you'd noticed, but normally, when you usually ask someone if they think theres more to life, they usually starts talking about the after-life. Why does extra-ordinary things have to be confined within the planes of the dead?

    Define 'magic', then we'll talk.

You might be better off asking for a definition of "real".

I believe in magic, like I believe in god.

Prove to me that it exists, and i'll have no problem with it. Until then... I'll stick with what I know from reality.

All that it takes to believe in magic is to change your perception of the ordinary and the extraordinary. You believe the world that you can see isn't magical, OP? That there's some deeper meaning to it you haven't seen yet? You're wrong, because you're looking in the wrong place.

Stop looking for magic in things you can't see and start looking at what you can see. Consider, for a moment, the amazing, beautiful, nature of the world: Out of pure chaos and things so small you can't even perceive them comes detail on a vast, vast scale, with galaxies and nebulae all made out of the smallest of building blocks and out of all this comes you.

I don't believe in magic. I believe in something more amazing than that.

(And believing that there's a whole world that you don't know about is pretty paranoid, if I may say so.)

As nice as it would be to be able to telekinetically lift my bottle of pepsi to me from across the room, reality says no. So I'm gonna err on the side of science and say no, magic is not real.

Wut? If by magic you mean HP magic I hope you're getting help, if by magic you mean "Planet Earth" type magic- sprawling vistas and the magnificence of nature - yes, it's different for everyone but no less magical.

Also, please don't ever do this again... please?

Oh wow I thought I was the only one! My magical power is to turn invisible when I close my eyes and concentrate. Of course, it only works if no one is looking and if no recording devices are aimed at me.

Obviously we need to form some type of team. My power is the ability to create fake images apear in the mind. The only problem is that I can only get it to work on my self so far. Thoug I'm sure I caused a fly to run into the glass window I had just cleaned once. Also I've found our team leader.

Perhaps we could form a team and kick some ass?

Let's get that chick to help us...

Yeah, that's the one. Something weird but still sexy about her.

No, I don't think magic is real. And I'm fairly confident that I don't even need definitions of "magic" and "real" to say that.

I've even gone and tested this. In my school there was a guy who was convinced he was some kind of witch. So, in the interests of science, I got him to tell me about it. He thought he had some kind of ability to do what we would consider a notice-me-not charm. His evidence: one day he got away with not wearing a tie because of it. I tried it. It didn't work. Experiment complete, no magic.

My mother once told me that she noticed that whenever she thought about someone, the phone would ring and it would miraculously be them calling!

The human mind always looks for patterns, but unfortunately doesn't do negatives very well. Thus when one notices that the phone rings after thinking about someone, it strikes them as a coincidence, and when it happens after they've noticed it they see it as a pattern. They will, however, forget to note every time that they've thought about somebody and the phone doesn't ring, and every time the phone rings and it's not the person they were thinking about.

This is exactly the stem from which all people's 'psychic abilities' grow: Every person who is convinced they have some sort of magical talent will have fallen into this method of only registering the positive values of the pattern. Worse yet - their audience often does the same.

That's magic in a nutshell, unfortunately. And my mother doesn't tell me things like that any more because I laugh at her too much.

You know with advancements in mind chips being able to send messages to computers there may be a day when you could communicate telepathically with other people or perhaps, a robot who could then go get you that bottle of pepsi from across the room. I'm afraid no one will be able to fix your horrible taste in soda however. Why someone would drink pepsi instead of coke is a mystery to me.

Much as I'd love magic to be real, I don't believe in it. Not in the fantasy sense, anyway; as others have said, it's a pretty magical world at times.

Maybe my tastebuds are dead, but personally I've never really been able to tell the difference...
