I... Surprisingly, I have no problem with these.

Water bear, Fire boar and grass... thing. Nintendo could have done a lot lot worse. I'm starting to get genuinly excited about gen 5.

    Also.

Coolest protagonist since Red. Pity about the girl's hair.

It's a shame: the pig had potential for so much win.

Kind of weird how most of the drawings for the grass starter all ended up with having a similar eye shape, though.

I dunno, I kinda like the hair. Looks somewhat like a punk rocker, or something.

The water starter looks horribad, and I'm iffy on the fire starter, but the grass starter looks awesome. I know which one I'm getting.

I'm not going anywhere near the fire starter.

I'm heading straight for the fire starter. Looks ten times better than torchic and chimchar.

I challenged myself to pick a starter before the real versions were released and stick with it. I picked the fire starter - and still don't regret it, although I am a little disappointed with the design.

    Pigs are awesome.

The grass starter looks the coolest imo, but grass pokemon are shit.

I'll go for whatever's useful in the long run of the game. But I share equal liking for all three of these critters, and look forward to what they turn into (Grass = big fucking dinosaur?, fire = big Fire/Dark boar?, water = giant snowman/otter hybrid?).

EDIT: Oh, and new scan with big trainer pics. They look pretty boss, I suppose.

I'll be going Fire Starter, as always. Water looks dumb. Grass looks interesting, but I really dislike grass types.

    Male Hair: Fuck yeah
    Female Hair: Wat.

The male's pose reminds me of Red's and the female's hair is a little crazy. I'm going Fire Starter, just like normal. Although the fact that their has been very few Fire types at the beginning for the last two generations may have something to do with it.

    They look rather interesting.

I’m not quite sure what their second type might be (if they even have one), but is it just me, or does the grass-type look like it could be a dual flying-type? I don’t know, but the yellow streamers are positioned to look like wings, so… *shrugs* Water-type is probably dual ice (finally) and the fire-type looks like a dark-type.

Grass-type looks cool, so I’ll definitely be starting out with it.

Jesus, looks like another gen with boring looking starters.

Hope their last forms are somewhat bearable. DPP's starters were just horrifyingly bad as far as looks went.

A lot of people have been saying that it could be a dual flying type. Thing is, if there's an ice gym or ice Elite four member in this game then it's quite fucked.

    EDIT:

I think that looks pretty badass, Belra. So does this.

    And Empoleon is fucking awesome.

    Don't fuck with the penguin.

You mean the grass starter? Yeah, 4x weakness to ice would suck (and mimic Torterra's 4x weakness). There's already 4 common Pokes with Grass/Flying (Hoppip's line and Tropius), so it wouldn't bring anything new to the table. Boring.

What's up with the labels for those pictures? The first one pointed to Torterra's upper leg and talked about eggs.

Also, the abilities for the starters are the exact same as last time. That's... kind of boring.

And yet totally not surprising. I'd wager that there'll also be a new Bidoof to hate, a new Pidgey-like thing to catch, some sort of PokeDex system... Some shit never changes.

Starter pokemon need to be simple, remember the target audience. Complicated abilities and stuff are reserved for more exotic pokemon. Little kids should be able to use starters well even if they fuck up their moves or stats.

Grass looks like Treeko 2.0, fire bunny pig could be cool once it evolves, sea otter is... I dunno.

I agree with Chime??. Though I'm not thrilled with the overall design for the fire-type, I can see massive potential for a awesome evolution branch. Not so concerned with the grass and the water looks half-decent, I guess.
