Half-decent? It's a giant emperor penguin, that's chock full of win.

Grass/Ground is a new combination. Ice is still going to kill it easy though. Water/Steel is full of win though, major win. Cuts out on quite a few weaknesses on the Water side, and adds some more resistances to the entire package. As a fanatic water trainer, I heartily approve.

I wonder if that Water/Steel is only for the final form, or all three though. Also, any word on the Gym Leaders Elements/order?

Those two pics are the final forms of the starters from DPPt, not Black and White. We still don't know what the final form of the starters for BW will look like, or what type they are.

"..." indeed. For once, I'm in complete agreement with you, mknote.

    Ice, for shame.

    Pardon the doublepost.

In-game video has been aired on Pokemon Sunday. Linkage.

There's some battle graphics showing some nifty animation during battles (Raikou vs. Zoroark), and also showing the three starters Kusaja (grass), Pokabu (the firepig), and Mijumaru.

Also in the clip is some footage of the overworld in Hiun City, which is apparently a city in the new Isshu region.

Well at least the battle animations, unlike the starters and the player characters, are being well received overall over on the Pokemon forums. "Made a mess in bed", as a few quotes go. I like 'em too - more of a "'bout damn time" than a "ZOMG", but with elements of the latter.

I like the concept of the animated sprites, but something about Raikou wiggling it's bum at the screen in that video makes me feel nauseous.

Has been seen a thousand times before if you've ever seen a pokemon thread on any site. Ever.

So I was browsing pixiv for some Pokemon B/W images, and i found a few 'what if' drawings for the starter evolutions. Personally, I love the first and second sets. Pardon the image flood.

Sadshit looks awesome in the second picture. Baconator and Smugleaf look awesome in most of them. It's been generally agreed that smugleaf is going to look half-dragonish. If it gets dragon as a sub-type I'll wtf hard.

Huh, grass/dragon type. Sounds interesting, though I'm not sure that would be such a good idea since dragon types are countered by elements that don't show up until the late game, usually. Maybe in the final evolution, but I doubt it would happen in the second level evolution.

Grass/Dragon type would suck. 4x weakness to Ice. It would also be weak to poison, flying and bug attacks too.

It would, however, do hilarious things to the original type strength if they all had bizarre types like Grass/Dragon.
