Incidentally, I learned through this night that I need to build DTs every fucking game. They shift the game in my favor pretty much every time because no one builds detection.

It feels kinda cheesy, but if they're not going to detect, you'd better believe I'm going to take advantage.

It is my belief that nothing that happens after 10 minutes into a game is considered cheese. Also, I go DT's a lot as well when I play protoss, but I usually try to fake them out first by illusioning out some immortals or collosus.

Yeah, true enough. I'm not suggesting going fast DT (since I would probably actually lose more often than I'd win doing that), but more having DTs around constantly to terrify my opponents into wasting scans or just melt their armies/economies.

Yeah, I like to just get DT's midgame and then proxy pylon them into the opponent's base with an illusion phoenix for sight, since I usually proxy the pylon at their cliffs.

I just use warp prisms. It's simpler.

Unless you went straight for DT and got them in the first like five minutes of the game, DTs are not cheese. If your opponent doesn't get detection, it's their fault.
    VVV That.
Then you don't have to worry about your pylon/probe getting killed. After you're done warping in move your prism out of range of the enemy, but not so far that you can't rush it in to take your survivors out (if any). Or move it back in to warp more units.

The one game I played 'toss (and incidentally the only placement match I've lost so far) I did an early pylon in the enemy base and I was surprised it lasted until I used it to warp in a bunch of 'lots/stalkers and rape the econ. I guess he had moved out to come attack me, because next thing I knew I had a bunch of roaches (before the nerf) eating my units and then the pylon.

I think I only lost that one because I didn't expand soon enough, and long distance mining for the cost of a nexus takes forever. (Managed my resources pretty well there, didn't I? Bahaha...)

Honestly, I have to agree Solomon.

At the silver level, the roach nerf does very little to change balance. Mainly because there are a ton of other factors which affect gameplay more. Like skill.

This is a great case of missing the point. The sticking point to this nerf is not the rush. It's about being rushed. Early timing attacks are much, much harder to hold off as Zerg now. The investment in resources is much higher which delays tech which then leaves you open to other timing attacks. At a high level, you design your strats to take advantage of factions of percentages. Abusive play wins games. If you're able to skimp on army now and go econ instead, you're going to be further ahead than your opponent.

To give an example, prepatch I had my entire build from start to ~75 supply planned out, specifically as it gave the best econ while not leaving me vulnerable to attack. I know the timings. I know what I can and cant get away with, based on scouting. It's going to take quite a while for me to get to the point where I'm as comfortable as I was, and I can guarantee you - this nerf has hurt my long term game's strength.

This is a major change to the way the game's played. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't true.

Weird, I feel as if the nerf has increased my long term game strength because not having the roaches to defend makes me want to play early aggression with zerglings. This usually keeps my opponents in their base for a good while and by the time they move out I either have an expansion or hydras (or both) on their way out and my econ trumps theirs completely. Doesn't always work out that ideally but I find that it's a pretty solid strat.

Anyone use this http://sc2promod.com/ ? Thoughts if so, certainly seems like an interesting idea and could make a big impact on Blizzard patches. If it doesn't then I can see an iCCup style server being set up with this implemented.

I managed to work my win:loss ratio into a winning one (if only by one). Life is good. :D

Ugh...I should not try playing after I just wake up. I'm slow and got raped by Terran, of all things. Super marauder ball, ho!

Maybe I should use banelings more...that would be epic

Yeah, temporary. I don't know when they're doing it, but they'll be doing some hardware work and, probably more importantly- making sure everything works in the software. No more of that crash nonsense, all the sounds working, etc., etc.

What's your ID on sc2? If you're interested in playing some practice games or just some awesome 2v2-ing, hit me up on badhorse.vin XD.

If you want some zerg videos you can just go to the previous posts in this thread. I believe I've posted a couple of my games here (I'm a zerg player).
