Do you really want to target me in particular? You don't know what he did or what he said, all you know is that I banned him. You don't even know the reason. And no, it's not because he disagreed with me. I would have to ban a lot of people if that were the reason.

And it's only for a day. Jesus. Don't get all butthurt.

This, to an extent. I've sort of descended into lurking, but I stick around, read, and say something when I have something actually worth saying. At the end of the day I'm here for the HP fics.

Having said that, as long as HP remains a fairly integral part of the site, I'm not adverse to change, despite being one of Tinn's 'silent majority'. Shezza got me into Dresden Files (took me 6 or 7 books to figure our Meciel wasn't a canon Denarian. Was disappoint.) and I was glad to see the Dresden subforum appear. Though my posting is becoming increasingly rare in them, I still lurk RL and Politics fairly heavily, if only because the asshattery is entertaining.

Also, I just wanted to quote Anubis in something. Never had a legitimate opportunity before.

I actually like this idea. Maybe some kind of required survery upon login and then people can go about their business. It would be a good way to get the opinion of every active member.

Just for my Edification the following is a list of suggestion that have been made for expanding the DLP Author/Reader base:

DLP Hall Of Fame for site recommended fics?

    Story of the week/month?

Links to Blogs/articles on various things?

    Article style reviews?

    DLP history timeline page

    amalgamate PC over to DLP
--- Subset: Expand PatronusCharm to include Dresden
    --- Subset2: Make DLP a sub-site of a new forum

make it about Fantasy literature in general instead of so much focus on HP
--- Subset: Limit The included Fandoms, or expand them on a basis of what the majority of our members are interested in.
--- Subset2: Expand/Change the format of the WBA section

Ditch the 'Dark Lord Potter' Name and come up with something else
--- Subset: Keep the DLP acronym during the name change

A (bi)monthly publication that includes reviews of fanfiction, fiction, movies, video games, movies, etc., as well as bringing up important site related topics
--- Subset: Casual update instead of regular

DLP Peer Review: (Summerized) A place to post homework, Job propositions, and similar writings for the DLP community to nitpick through for us.
--- Subset: area for General 'Real world' problems to be posted for feedback on how to deal with whatever crops up.

    Blogs and similar
--- Subset: DLP sponsored blogs elsewhere

    Housecleaning on our library.
--- Subset: (apperently I missed this one) Throw out all non-hp works.
    --- Subset2: Limited weekly cleaning?

    Merchandising

    Bring back the yearly awards

A 'DLP Advocates' section with writeups on the 5.5/5 stories
--- Subset: Regardless of the Fandom

    Podcast of some type.

    Philosophy sub-forum

    Social networking
    --- Subset: IRL convention(s)
--- Subset2: HELL NO to being a facebook spinoff
--- Subset3: (And I cringe as I add this) Facebook app.

We could create a DLP religion and apply for tax-exemption status. It would totally solve all the monthly bill problems!

    Gaming
--- Subset: DLP hosted competitions a la RvsB
--- Subset2: Multimedia in general, Recommended movies, games, books, ect.
    --- Subset3: Dedicated servers

    Search engine upgrade

DLP's 'Tips n Tricks' for New writers

Translation Area for english to other and back again

DLP's Opinion on -Blank-: Member summery and discussion of other fandoms

    Site hosted writing competitions

So, on to Suggestions, Comments, Thoughts, and what have you.

First things fist. Post #1 comments.

PC, from where I'm sitting, is, was, and may or may not always be akin to DLP Platinum. Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable posting drabbles, oneshots, or general drivel there. That, as I see it, is the main reason it's a 'Ghost town'. It represents the crème' De La crème' If you'll pardon the expression. While DLP is for the nitty gritty.

Change name to 'Project DLP' and add 'Dark' versions of other fandoms to our coverpage

Make 'Joe's' comment: DLP - there are signs of intelligence. (Post 51) Our official Motto.

Perspicacity: (In response to the 'Awards' rant (post 67)) what if we simply make it that once a story has won any award one year, it's not allowed entry into the next years competitions?

Discussion (Post 71-74)I'm not sure if this is possible or not but On IRC base expansion some form of sidebar so you can keep an eye on active discussion without having to actually switch to IRC and back?

Census Thought: I frown upon being forced to do a Q&A just to log in. That being said, the option with a Request to take it would not be a miss with me.

Organize the Various Fandom libraries (or actually MAKE them libraries) as a mirror image of the Potter library would also not be a miss with me.

More to come in a couple hours, I just realized i'm ten minutes late for work.

Just to make this clear for future posts; It has already been decided and is no longer up for debate. We are not changing the name from Dark Lord Potter to anything else.

As for most used for me - I tend to lurk/post most in the Books/Anime, and TV/Movies forums. I know there's at least a few people posting whenever a manga or tv show gets the latest chapter/episode.

Read the thread, you'll have a LOT of people telling you why.

Basically, it's an integral part of who we are.

Vash, further question on that however, are we going to change from darklordpotter.net to projectdlp.net though? Thats one thing I wouldn't mind too much.

If not a name change, perhaps we could have a "friend safe" skin for the forum selectable from the themes bar at the bottom left, a theme which removes overt references to Potter, so people can surf the forums without fear of over-the-shoulder investigators.

Sree it didn't have anything to do with the ban, I hadn't even known he was banned at the time I posted I don't think. It has more to do with posts like this one

Though to be fair to you I should have said people with mentalities like Sree's. As for DLP being more friendly, it definitley is now, but if someone came in saying they really liked h/g they'd probably still get ripped apart. I just think we should see if they're intelligent before they get ripped apart.

I know it's been mentioned before, but I think a movie subsection would be great, especially with the star rating system.

    No. No they wouldn't.

If they came in and said, "OMFG, I HERD YOU GUYS HATE HARRY AND GINNY LOVE AND THAT'S SO FUCKING RETARDED AND STUPID YUR ALL JUST JELUS." then they would be stoned to death, rightfully.

On the other hand, a comment like, "I like a few pairings but I'll admit I still like Harry/Ginny the most." would be treated with a few jokes. That'd be it though. Apart from the obligitory noob chiming in with "OHOHOH.U DUN SAY THAT ON DLP."

Because for the most part, the staff and the people we were polling (Read: fags on IRC) have an overwhelming support to leave DLP as Dark Lord Potter.

No. ProjectDLP is pretty much the expansion of the site. forums.dlp will say as is. Project DLP is for whatever we decide to do extra. Articles, Podcasts, etc..

If it embarrasses you that much, Taure, just fucking leave. Greasemonkey adblock script blocks the banners at the top for me and I cant be fucked to go through it to fix it. There is one solution for you. Or you could use Stylish. There is a CSS method to replace one image with another...

So pretty much anyone can make their own themes. Reference my two posts for sample and code. And an preview of the fixed code. >_>

Ok, so what is the overall overview looking like now? I got that there will be a forums.darklordpotter and the projectdlp expansion. But if you just go to darklordpotter.net will it have a choice for projectdlp and one for dlp forums? Or just enter to the forums the way it is now.

I can assume there will be a link on the splash page for ProjectDLP when it eventually gets up and running, but as it is, I don't think there is any real concrete decision to do anything yet.

I still suggest we make a new header banner and a new motto. They are still gay. And the splash banner. With all the photoshop-tards we have I think we can come up with something better. Leave darklordpotter as is and start implementing new shit on projectdlp.net and expand libraries on the forums. Nuff said.

Agreed. There's no need to totally screw around with DLP; it can be left alone. This is simply an expansion, not a complete renovation.
