Hey guys, I haven't been able to see any videos at all for the past 3 days. All it tells me in every single one is that some error occurred, and this is happening to my friends as well. Do you guys know the reason behind this? We all have the latest flash player and stuff too :(.

    Works perfectly fine for me.

Try disabling your firewall/antivirus/firefox addons one by one and see if any of them are causing it.

I've had youtube up continuously for the past few days. I haven't seen it go wrong.

What does the error say exactly?

The most helpful error message of all time:

"An Error Occurred, Please Try Again Later."

I turned off my anti-virus stuff one by one and none of them seem to be causing it T__T.

And addons? If you use any of those "Video accelerator" programs for youtube, uninstall them as they all suck and can cause problems like this. If none of this works, try using a different web browser. And, of course, run virus and malware scans. I suggest Avira and Malwarebyte's anti-malware.

I needed to totally re-install Java back when YouTube was problematic for me. The error message I got was decidedly more helpful though, so I've no idea if that would work in your case.

YouTube doesn't use Java though o_o.

You might reinstall Adobe Flash Player though, see if that helps at all.

I've re-installed adobe flash player and it hasn't done anything :(. I've tried googling the problem but no one seems to have a fix for it except for installing adobe flash player.

EDIT: I've tried all the different browsers and it still doesn't work. The problem started at precisely the same time as it did for my friend. He runs a Mac and I run WinXP, but youtube stopped working on the same day at the exact same time (Tuesday 5:30pm).

If your friends get the same error, then maybe it's an area-specific thing?

Anyway, I doubt this will help but it's been suggested that clearing your cookies for youtube might do the trick, or updating your drivers. Best bet is to test it by using another internet browser.

Actually, looking around a little it's looking increasingly likely that it's youtube's fault, not yours. I don't suppose you're in eastern Canada? People there seem to be having this exact same problem recently.

I started getting this error about 2 weeks ago. As far as I can remember I didn't change anything, it just showed up.

However I only get it about 20% of the time. It doesn't appear to be video specific. Sometimes refreshing the page fixes it, sometimes not.

It's irritating but since it's not a 100% of the time thing for me I've just ignored it.

^ I regularly get that too on videos if I've just loaded the tab or have gone back a page to a different video. I've had it for years. Refreshing always works, so I assumed that OP was talking about the problem being permanent.

I'm fairly sure it uses Javascript in some way.

The error I got was something related to supposedly not having the latest version of Flash installed, something which was not the case. Nothing helped until I found instructions that told me to remove all versions of Java and re-install it.

This tangent probably won't help anyone though, since it sounds like the problem is on YouTube's end.

Java != Javascript. Not even close. D:

YouTube does use Javascript in the form of AJAX, however. But so does DLP...and a bazillion other websites.

@OP: One thing that I've seen cause problems with YouTube are ad-blockers. Since YouTube has those nifty (read: gay) ads in their videos, it could be they wont let you load the video if the ad wont load as well.

Since it's happening to your friend as well I can only assume that you both use an ad-blocker, or as Palindrome said area-specific.

If you have adblock+ then disable it. Similar situation with me was that since I own a subscription for MLB Gameday, ablock+ was blocking that; so it might be your ad blocker.

Adblock+ for me only blocks ads. o_O

Never had any trouble with youtube. (Aside from the idiotic changes they make every few months.)

Does your friend live in the same area and use the same ISP? If so then it could be the ISP's fault.

Otherwise its most likely YouTube's Canadian servers.

I know I'm a little late, but I had the same problem around the same time, and live in Toronto.

    It went away today, though.
