Yeah, I feel that the author missed an opportunity wherein Dobby piggybacks on Harry's and spouts wisdom as he runs about the neighborhood. Still, the author wrote in a note at the beginning of the first chapter that he wasn't quite sure if it was crack or not. I think if you're going to write Jedi!Harry, you have to either be committed to the crack, or not.

    Summary:

AU from year five onwards. At the end of year six Harry finds himself once again isolated and prisoned at the Dursleys. The end of Book six never happened in this tale. Dumbledore has plans that include Harry, but not the way Harry thinks. An enemy revealed a truth with their dying breath and the chains are forever broken as memories are tarnished beyond redemption.

I have big reservations posting this. Read through it yesterday and remember really enjoying it, but upon reflection realised that Bobmin has added nothing to the story that hasn't been done before, many times. However, it was still an enjoyable read, and worth your time.

It's...a decent waste of time. Seriously - nearly every element of the story was a cliche and the plot had as many twists as a straight line - but it is readable. I think I enjoyed it due to extremely low expectations.

    Definitely not library worthy though.

I just got done reading this, and I really wish I hadn't bothered. The entire time I kept telling myself that the story had to eventually get better, but it never does. There is nothing at all special in this fic, and the epilogue is actually worse than the canon epilogue imo.

I thought it was pretty dull, really. It seemed to be one indy!Harry cliche` after another, so I skipped to the end. Basically, about the only bit of it that was new was the subplot where Harry's parents turned out to be alive (and even that's been done before). It at least avoided the interminable shopping scene.

Seriously, I should whip up a generator that churns this kind of shit out with a button press.

Pretty much crap. However, Harry does give as good of reason as any to take on multiple wives.

"...I have question though, why did you agree to these contracts so easily? I thought you would ask for advise judging by your character."

"Simple really, Gabrielle is a French Veela, Susan has a large chest to die for; Daphne is the snotty pureblood princess, very sexy and the two Indian twin sisters will make me jizz in my pants. I think fate is finally being nice to me, I think I'm going to die as a sexually satisfied man.

Best LotR crossover I've read, but it's still a bit early to rate (anyone know of any other good ones?). So far Harry is drinking a lot, but for some reason it doesn't seem out of character -- yet. For the moment I'm assuming he'll quit drinking quite so much once he finds something to work towards. It's only a prologue and 3 chapters, and so far the plot hasn't kicked in too much, so I have hope.

Interesting as hell though, and most of the characters seem fairly in character.

I see him quitting drinking when he runs out of alcohol, not a moment sooner.

Also, facing Uruk-Hai with a hangover can't be pleasant.

Well shit, let's put Oz in front of mutant orcs and see how drunk he wants to be then.

The Black Wizard by Azraeos is pretty good, Cheddar.

And I could take a pansy Uruk-Hai any day. Drunk or not. D:

that story would be awesome if Harry wasn't 13. And if he, you know, actually had any effect on the plot.

Oh noes, Gandalf is falling. I guess I'll just stand here and watch, even though I can just summon him like I did to Aragorn not a moment ago.

See Vir, it's things like that I can't stand. Here we are with all these great plot devices and the main character doesn't have half a brain to use them.

There was also a HP/LotR crossover i read a while ago that featured Harry turned into a vampire then brought to Arda. I think the main point of conflict in that story was that, while ageless, Harry wasn't as 'pure' as the elves he was encountering. Meh..it was ok until
Saruman uses Harry's blood to create an army of vampire orcs which Harry then takes control of.
Up to this point, it was one /facepalm after another.

There was also another one where Harry magically wishes himself away from merry old England and lands his pale ass on Elrond's doorstep, finds out he's ageless due to being from another world, then gets magically adopted so he becomes half elf. This one was...decent, I guess. Thus far, it's focused on Harry's quest to find the love of his life and trying to find a method back home to kill Voldemort.

I believe you are thinking about Sanctuary of Arda http://www.fictionalley.org/authors/keiran_halcyon/SOA.html, it's decent enough if you want to waste time. I wouldn't recommend it beyond that.

The only Harry Potter/LotR story that I have found to be not only readable but also well-written was Andro's The Serpent of the South.

I did give Concerning Wizards a try. I did not like it much and gave up after the 2nd chapter. The author tends to jump around with tenses. Miss-use of past perfect instead of simple past and vice versa is understandable in complex sentences. However, jumping from past tense to present tense completely in the very next paragraph is not.

Black Wizard has a Library Thread so people may want to post there if they don't think it should stay up. I personally don't plan on rereading it any time soon, unless the author updates.

The point regarding Gandalf is valid, I recall same interesting sequences and plot changes afterword though.

Speaking of crossovers, I've been following Wizard and Zanpakuto lately, it seems to be one of the better HP/Bleach fusions I've seen yet, though I don't know enough about Bleach to really judge. I might put it up for review later, when the story's sense of direction is clearer.
