I think one of the more obvious future time-traveling stories would be Nonjon's Browncoat, Green Eyes. Additionally, it is the best Firefly/HP crossover in existence.

People tend to write time travels fics with little no consequence for Time itself, which annoys me and generaly turn me off the stories. Either that or just a cannon do-over.

Of course, Wastelands is a one of the few good examples of a good time travel fic.

 

That wouldn't effect the Harry in the story though, would it? He already would have existed when they arrived in the future. Therefore it could be concluded that the Lily and James (and others) who arrive are either A.) from an Alternate Dimension or B.) Had already done all of that before they went back in time and had Harry.

Plus if you want to be REALLY true to the consequences of time travel then don't forget that the smallest of things can result in Harry not being born. James and Lily just waiting an extra hour to do the naughty the night he was conceived could result in either no Harry or a vastly different Harry.

There is after all no guarantee that the little swimmer that is Harry would ever make it to the egg in time.

 

While time-travel is purely a theoretical study, aside from the normal passage of time, I would think that travelling forward in time would be safe, while travelling backwards is when you could run into 'paradoxs' and mess shit up.

Yeah. If James and Lily are only 16 when they go to Harry's time, that would be dimension hopping instead of time travelling since Harry was not yet born.

 

Hence why I said they'd be coming from the past of an alternate dimension/time-line.

Unless of course you want to get really complicated and go for the reason they got together in the first place was because they had gone into the future, then back to the past.

Which, rather like the Patronus in PoA, raises the question of what would have happened the first time around. i.e. who saved Harry from Dementors the first time/how did Lily and James get together and have Harry if the only reason they ended up together was going into the future and meeting Harry.

All in all, I believe that when it comes to time-travel, it's best not to think too hard on it. You'll just hurt yourself.

It was decent when I read it years ago. It has Malfoy and Ginny, but Harry is also a main, more main than the Malfoy anyways.

 

I remember reading that story. Supposedly they beta'ed the story, but whoever "beta'ed" the story is a fucking douchebag and done such a horrid job at it because there's a lot of mistakes in it. I'd rate that story a 3/5. Isn't really all that great.

There is a story where Harry is his own father, written by one of the DLPers in fact. I don't remember the name but I think it is called Oedipus Flower? Been awhile since i've read that though so I could be wrong.

 

Not precisely what you're after, but Harry's his own grandfather in this one shot (featuring Severitus + reverse Severitus).

 

I think I will read this just for the absurdity of the idea.

I don't recall if it's Oedipus Flower (wasn't that the one where he killed James and made Lily think he'd been cheating?) but I do remember one where he was his own dad (and granddad, etc.)

IIRC, he gets sent back in time and kills James (but he didn't realize that it was James at the time) and then decides to take James' place. Lily fell in love with him and all that but I don't think they ever got around to doing anything, i think it was abandoned before that. I forget exactly though, been awhile.
