    The Smurfs

Set in the Middle Ages, the evil wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) discovers the Smurf's village and chases them into some woods. The Smurfs get scattered and Clumsy Smurf (voiced by Anton Yelchin) wanders into a "forbidden" grotto and some of the other Smurfs follow. Since it's also a blue moon, a magical portal within the grotto transports them into Central Park in New York They take shelter with a married couple (Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays) and try to find a way back to their village before Gargamel finds them.

    Release date - August 3, 2011

    ... eee... what?

And why do they transport Smurfs from their magical forest into NYC? It will be just another movie about tiny rodents/toys/animals/some other shit interacting with humans and their creations.

But probably I will see it just for the sentimental reasons.

This pretty much. I'd have rather seen something more original than just transporting the Smurfs into the 'real world' where we rehash the "small cute people/things interact with real people" cliches.

Oh, and they're... BLUE! Go go Avatar! >.>

Even for sentimental values I would not see it.

However, if I could, I would do the movie with fantasy elements. I'd set it in their world with Gargamel(sp?) as a mean sorcerer, whose not a buffoon, and was making earthquakes and causing strife and defeating knights.

Then, when his spells destroy smurf village, it would be up to the brave, tiny warriors to rise up and vanquish him. Along the way conquering their fear of being discovered by humans, and trying to overcome their fear of fighting, realizing that in times of strife, those with good hearts must take action against evil.

Toss in some friendship and goodie-goodie junk to make it appeal to families, too.

    That's what I would do. :D
