^^This is what happens to me as well. I agree, the pictures being loaded are the most likely cause.

 

You're correct in your assumption. The img-tag has fields for width and height and if they're not present your browser won't take note of them because each browser vendor wants as fast load times as possible. For this reason they won't wait for the images to load before showing the page.

Been there, done that, started suffering from this bug about 7 years ago when doing some web development. I guess you could patch the forum software in about 10 minutes so that when you first post an image from a remote site it loads it and checks the size and inserts it into the tag.

 

It's also "Go to last read post". Ie, if you haven't read the last 5 posts, it'll send you to the 5th last post.

And, for me at least, if you wait, you'll eventually end up where you want to be. Which can be kinda annoiyng, as I end up scrolling there, and then once the page finishes loading, I get scrolled back to where the 'last post' started.

 

Does it to me too if I have too much stuff open and the page loads slow. Very annoying.

Imagine how many pictures this thread alone has...I'm pretty sure attached pictures already undergo this (because they are stored on the server), but embedded pictures are just a string of text in the middle of a post which is saved to the database as (I'm assuming) a BLOB. You'd have to run some kind of regex for the [‏‎IMG] tags, nab the source, fetch the image and find the dimensions, then after the BB code parser is done add the dimensions to the <img> tag (unless the BB code parser has the ability to add dimensions, of course).
