Though I am a fan of the anime, I've never found any Bebop fanfiction worth reading. Do share.

For me, Harry Potter, Naruto. Then a vlad dropoff to Dresden, Star Wars, Buffy, Bleach, X-Men, nBSG.

    In no particular order:

    Harry Potter (Obviously)
    Dresden
    Stargate
Babylon 5 (if only for The Dilgar War, seriously, if you like Babylon 5 that's a long, fucking awesome, relatively canon novelization of the first real war the EA was in)
    Mass Effect

I tend to read a lot of scifi crossover type stuff lately as well.

Ever since I read the Artemis Fowl books I've been wanting to read a decent story where Artemis hasn't gone all sappy and nice... I have found precisely nought decent stories in this fandom, though. I don't suppose you have any recommendations?

I've read a few here and there that I don't recall being that memorable, To be honest I'm just such a big fan of the series itself That I have reserved it a spot on my list in hopes that it will spread like wildfire and finally have enough of a fanbase to get some good writers(same with Cowboy Bebop).

Ah, damn, looks like the only way to get a halfway decent story in AF would be to write one myself.

    1) Harry Potter
    2) Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel, The Series
    3) Supernatural
    4) Star Gate 'verse
    5) There are several tied for fifth place - mostly dependant on the FF author. AD&D, Dark Angel, Firefly, DC 'verse (which is A Lot of 'verses,) Marvel, and I've come back to Star Trek since the last movie.

I went through an Alex Ryder phase, but that didn't last long.

Which I fully encourage you to do! :p

By the way I heard that The new book is supposed to be released very soon. Though I am not completley sure when.

@Potterondrugs: Meh, I stopped reading canon. The first one or two were the only really good ones, then Colfer goes on to destroy Artemis's personality in the name of character development, and shamelessly recycle old villains. I don't even like the fairies.

...Plus I heard that Artemis/Holly is now canon. I'm staying well away from that if I can help it.

@Banner: You mean Alex Rider, right? I actually quite like that fandom: there are a surprising quantity of good stories, even if in canon Alex appears to have no distinguishable personality, but plenty of one-liners.

Ahh, Amitai is one of those people who seem to have single-handedly sculpted most of fanon. It's amazing how fans can latch onto details like K-Unit and turn them into something that's really quite fun to read about, even from people who otherwise aren't amazing writers.

There's something alluring to people about regimented settings, don't you think so? School settings, like Harry Potter - power-dependant societies, like in Bleach and the rankings in Naruto, military routines, like K-Unit. I still have no clue why, though. I think that's why Code Geass lacks decent fanfics: people don't have a familiar setting to work with when they write.

I suppose, but for just a moment Eoin will resurect Artemis old character, and although these moments are few and far between I can still enjoy reading a new Fowl book. I snickered through the Eternity code, And smiled through the first few chapters of the Opal deception( where Artemis reverted to his old ways before they forced some good into him :(.

    1) Firefly
Best TV series, ever. Have lost count of the number of times I've rewatched it. Also, it has Summer Glau.

    2) Dresden Files
Probably my favourite series of books right now. Just a pity it takes so bloody long for them to appear at this end of the world

    3) Harry Potter
Still enjoy it. Suspect the fandom helps it's longevity - if 90% of everything is crap, or however that saying goes, then the remaining 10% is more good stuff than I have the time to read. The problem is finding it, of course...

    4) Buffy
Up until Firefly came out, the first three seasons of Buffy were, I reckon, about as good as TV got. My first fanfiction read was Buffy - which was a depressingly long time ago, now.

    5) Evangelion
Quiet nod in the anime direction. Loved the show, although buying the DVDs shortly before my uni exams one year probably wasn't the best idea. Although I have given up recommending it to people - that hasn't gone well.

Honourable mention might go to Lord of the Rings - I've not been quite so mad about it recently, but I guess it's been 20 years since I first read it, so a few years of downtime won't hurt too much. Quite a few other things are queued up as well, but I'm only supposed to have five, so let's leave it there.

    1) Harry Potter - It's astonishing just how much potential Harry Potter has that's been exploited/has yet to be exploited. The universe is amazing, as well.

    2) Stargate - Lots of cool stuff to like here; overall it's just really interesting and I'm glad that the fandom has provided a few good gems.

    3) Star Wars - Such a huge, vibrant universe, and of my childhood favorites.

    4) LOTR - First read this in elementary school, and it completely rocked my socks off. Silmarillion was awesome in terms of how it revealed so much that was previously glossed over.

    5) Avatar:TLA - This is probably more of a temporary thing, but I couldn't think of much else. I fucking love this TV show.

Honorable mentions, randomly ordered - Artemis Fowl: I would dearly love to read a good fic where Artemis is still an evil mastermind. His Dark Materials. Abhorsen. Codex Alera: Books 5 and 6 may have sucked, but I still love everything about the world the series is set in.

Oh, and if I get around to reading it all this summer, Dresden will probably show up on the list somewhere.
