book two. chapter 'The Burrow'. Mr. Weasley just got home and is talking about the raids they did. eventually the term 'muggle-baiting' comes up.

    "Muggle-baiting?" asked Harry.
"Well, I think it is a bit like masturbating," Ron answered helpfully.
    Fred and/or George snickered.

Here's a crack fic I was thinking could be a series of one shots. All those stories where gets found by some American character and taken to America to become the end all of what ever it is they do. I was thinking Harry gets found by A Pimp Named Slickback. Harry doesn't Go to Hogwarts until fourth year and the one shots would basiclly be Harry trying to be the first, as far as he knows, wizarding pimp.

One of the one-shots could be Harry trying to get Fleur to become his bottom bitch, or trying to sell dates to the yule ball.

    Sophisticated Prince Harry

We see a lot of uneducated, naive, unperceptive Harry. He's dull as the back side of a knife blade, and an enraging waste of potential. The opposite - uber-Harry - is less irritating, but never well balanced. Personally, I like a street-smart Harry - a slightly cynical someone who isn't so incredibly easy to manipulate. But it would be nice to have a sophisticated, astute Harry Potter.

A *really* politically sophisticated Harry - in the style of Paul Atreides. A Harry raised full-immersion in the modern equivalent of a Byzantine court. One who had parents who taught by example and theory a post-graduate level of Real Politick. Think of how a Malfoy SHOULD have been raised. Proud and powerful and continually urged toward excellence in all areas.

He's loyal to his family and his people. He's ruthless to his enemies. He's highly educated. He has brilliant advisors, and he listens to them.

He's cunning, careful, and subtle in pursuit of his goals. He's disciplined, he thinks nothing of spending years learning his skills and endless drills to keep them sharp. He's courageous, and willing to seize the moment to twist a crisis to his purpose. He's a fit for any House save Ravenclaw, for he has no time to spend gathering knowledge for knowledge's sake.

Riddle would have to have NOT been defeated back in '81. Otherwise he'd never have the chance to rebuild after the Graveyard. The Potter faction/Order would have quietly assassinated all the Marked DE before Harry reached first grade. Perhaps Dumbledore has (somehow) managed to hobble the kill-the-enemy movement? The old man is a weird mix of "save the repentant" and "sacrifice the loyal" philosophies.

    "Family, Honour, Duty."
This is carved over the massive hearth in the Entrance Hall of Potter Manor. It's a pretty fiction.

"Potter Ascendant: Powerful, Eternal and Invincible.
Security through strength. Blood Kin, Retainers, Honor, Accountability, the larger society."

This is the true motto of the Potter Line. This is the motto that is NEVER spoken in the presence of outsiders. A score of generations have lived and died by this rule. Wizard Potters have corrected defective traits. Sorcerer Potters have bound Guardians to the property and the family. Lords and Ladies Potter have carefully selected spouses with an eye to magical Gifts. Businessmen Potter have guided the family through disasters and gold rushes.

The Potters always remembered the Motto. They are generally Light-sided, although no Potter Head is truly Light. In times of disaster or civil war, a few Dark Potters have held the Clan. Cadet Lines are held close. Potters embrace advanced education for all family members, financial aid loans and support to ensure productive adults.

The philosophy has served the family well. Individually, Potters are healthy, self-supporting, and loyal to the extended family. As a group, the Potters are powerful and wealthy. Two-week-long Winter Holiday parties are held in the Great House, with dozens of extended family households invited. The Potter Trust owns an island in the Bahamas that is open to Family year-round. Disaster and bereavement support is freely available.

I have no idea how to integrate this into the canon that JKR established. It would be an entirely new story, all it would share with the HP series is some of the characters and the greater universe.

Wow Banner, that is quite something. I suppose I'd read that, if well written cause otherwise it'll be pretty similar to any other uber!Harry fic out there.

It's a great idea, and I found myself interested until I got to this,
And that had me blinking....What is the purpose of this? Sure family get-togethers are nice and promote family unity and loyalty and all....but an island in Bahamas? What for? Other than showing their status I mean...and why specify "Two week long parties"? That bit read like fan-fapping and would seriously turn me off the story no matter how well written.

Long family get togethers and private islands are all nice and all, but seriously why do they need be to be brought up?

Other than that, brilliant idea. Here's to hoping someone takes it up.

Just saw a fic on FicWad by the author FrauleinWeisenheimer called "Alfred: A History". The summary simply states: 'Did you ever wonder how Alfred got his start? Well, he wasn't always called Alfred. Once Upon a Time he was called Harry.'

What has me tickled is the premise. You kinda have to skew the dates of the Batman and Harry Potter universes, but since Batman is relatively timeless, that is a minor issue. The fic itself isn't too bad, considering what else is on that site, but I wouldn't recommend it here. I guess I'm throwing it out there because it's unusual and, in my opinion, a good idea as far as crossovers go.

I have though up of another idea that may warrant a decent fic, if it has not been done allready.

Dumbledore dies book 6, AKed of tower etc... When Dumbledore dies, all his spells that he as been controlling/powering fade with him (Like the bodybind on Harry). This includes his protections on Grindlewalds prison (Nuremguard). Grindlewald gets free and (make up your storyline here), Annihilates Voldemort / trains/manipulates Harry (if he even knows who he is (doubtful)) / runs amok over the world / WW3 / repents and goes to live on some summer paradise island full of veela

That hinges on the fact that Dumbledore was the one who set up the wards around the prison in the first place. But I suppose it is doable, and actually could lead to some very interesting confrontations.

I think canon says that Dumbledore imprisoned him inside his own prison, the wording is vague enough to draw a few different conclusions.

You could, I suppose, say that Dumbledore re-warded the prison because GG did it originally and may have left a few 'backdoors' just incase. Or something like that.

It's not the worst idea I've seen and I'd probably read the fic.

That would probably be a pretty good read, actually. There are very few stories that incorporate Grindlewald in any real sense, and equally few stories where Harry gets mentored/trained/manipulated by a dark character other than Voldemort or Snape. There was one Count of Monte Cristo styled story with Grindy playing the old priest, but I don't think that went too far...

I really like the sound of that one. I'd definitely give it a read if someone wrote it.

One idea I've had is a Harry Potter/Green Lantern crossover. Instead of the whole Brother wands/Prior Incantatem that saved Harry's life the night Voldemort was resurrected, he would be saved by a Green Lantern ring instead.

"Harry Potter of Earth. You have shown the ability to overcome great fear. Welcome to the Green Lantern Corps."

Of course, to make things even, Voldemort would be given a yellow lantern ring at some point.

No. No, I don't. The closest thing to that that I can see in a WIP is Renegade Cause's Harry, and I love him for it. I'd rather have a slightly underdog-ish character who wins the battles anyway then read more than 5k words about Harry Potter, king ruler of worlds who shits rainbows and money. Uber Harry is only worth reading, in my opinion, when the enemies are even more uber (like in Wastelands).

A story type that I am always intrigued by, however, is when Harry goes back in the past and turns into one of the canon characters. Maybe he lost a leg fighting Voldemort, and lost an eye to the next dark wizard in power. Then, in his old age, he gets hit by a spell that sends him back in time, with his memory all scrambled. Alastor Moody is born.

Of course, the reader wouldn't learn all of this until near the end of the story, but it would still be interesting as an AU.

Not quite sure how that plot would work out Juggler... I mean, Alastor Moody wasn't born without a leg or only 1 eye... surely he was rather whole when he started out as an Auror?

Now I have imagine in my mind with just born baby Alastor, without a leg and eye, screaming “Constant vigilance!” instead of crying.

If Voldemort got anyring I think it would be the black ring. It fits him better than the yellow ring. It would go more with immortality and regeneration.

Good point. I was thinking yellow because of his 'ability to instill great fear' but black fits just as well.

I think that Voldemort would have a yellow ring. Black doesn't suit him, because Necron was all about "everything needs to die" when Voldie was doing what he could to not die.

    Also:
    - Green/Willpower - Severus,
    - Blue/Hope - Harry,
    - Red/Rage - Bellatrix,
    - Violet/Love - Lily,
    - Orange/Avarice - Lucius,
    - Indigo/Compassion - Albus.

I was looking more at black because of the whole bringing back the dead thing. Think if the ritual got botched up in fourth year, either Dumbledore had tracked the portkey when it went off or the wards around Hogwarts held it back. Voldemort heres of the black ring which can bring back the dead. He somehow aquires it and uses it to bring himself back.

The whole story could be trying to find a way to stop Voldemort. Say Dumbledore knew of the rings and he's had indigo since before defeating Grindlewald, or Grindlewald may have had another power ring. This could start the story with Albus getting Harry a green ring and showing him how to use it. Then finding other people who could use the power rings or corisponding devices.

How I would do the colors.
    - Yellow/Fear - Snape. He uses fear best to intimadate.
    - Green/Willpower - Harry. String will to do whats right.
    - Blue/Hope - Luna. She seems more hopeful and believing than others.
    - Red/Rage - Bellatrix. Her insanity and rage.
    - Violet/Love - Unsure but a previous holder could be Lily.
    - Orange/Avarice - Ron. Greed at what Harry has.
    - Indigo/Compassion - Albus. He believes in saving others.( Also could be used for Hope.)

Someone's doing a Harry Potter/Green Lantern story at FFN right now. While predictably terrible, it does contain this lulzworthy moment:
