Couldn't find a thread, but I apologise if I've duplicated.

Apparently an adaptation of Goethe's poem/the Fantasia section - although you couldn't tell by the trailer. That aside, this looks pretty cool. Not exactly intellectual, but a fun couple of hours. Of course, I'm pretty much a whore for fantasy, so I'm a little biased.

Looks like it might be interesting. I'm not entirely sure about the two main characters - although I'm a Nick Cage fan, he's never really struck me as a fantasy character. I trust that the two of them will give a good performance regardless. Anyone have a guess at what the plot might be in this? I don't recall Fantasia being more than a Mickey Mouse musical, albiet an awesome one - but then again, I don't think this is meant to follow that path. I did notice the scene where he throws a mop though - that's probably a dope scene.

I'm looking forward to this actually...

Well... It looks pretty bad-ass... But then Nicholas Cage is a shit actor in pretty much everything but Lord of War...
Maybe it will be good? But I sense a fast paced action flick without too much plot.

I could see Nicholas Cage being excellent in a fantasy movie. His... constant demeanor would work well as 'eccentricity'.

However, in my experience 99% of fantasy movies suck balls. Can't really see this changing the picture.

    @Averis: Wikipedia tells me this:

So not exactly reinventing the wheel, but as said, could be fun.

I've heard about this for a while now. The Sorcerer's apprentice was one of my favorite scenes from Fantasia. I also think that this could be fun. It's not really anything new but seeing as I am also a whore for fantasy I'll probably go see it.

I saw this on Wednesday and I've got to say that I was entertained.

Not the greatest movie ever made or anything, not the greatest story ever told and not the greatest acting I've ever seen.

But at the end of the day I pay my $40 or so dollars to be entertained, and it did that very well.

Plus the chick that plays Becky is hot.

Dude, $40 for a movie, what?

Anyway, I may see this, it looks pretty interesting.

2 tickets (me and the girlfriend) plus drinks and popcorn came to around $40 bucks, give or take a few. It all adds up.

Plus I got a large popcorn, because I hadn't had anything other than a light snack.

I normally like fantasy movies, but I have to say that the trailer for this didn't really do anything for me, maybe I have become jaded after to many crap-feasts.

I may watch it on DVD but I probably wont go see it unless someone else is paying for the ticket.

I saw it. It's very average. There's a huge, poorly laid out info dump at the very beginning of the movie that just made me cringe. After that it's not bad - definitely entertaining at times.

I have to say though, Jay Baruchel's voice really annoys me. I don't know if it's just me, but it was hard to listen to for that long.

    I saw this today.

On the whole I thought it was worth the money to see (about 10 bucks total, since I snuck in a drink and snacks instead of buying there).

I had fun with it. One of the very few movies with Nick Cage where I liked his character pretty well. In fact, I wish there had been more of Cage's character in it -- especially some more character interaction with him. He made the movie work for me more than the other characters combined.

As others have said, there was nothing new here. It's the same old cliche story again, but it managed to make me laugh several times. It also takes care not to take itself seriously, which is probably the only thing that made it semi-work.

Guy playing the "grown up" Dave did have the most irritating effing voice in the world. I don't know if it's natural or if he did it on purpose for the "geek" aspect of the character, but it did grate some. For that matter he's a fairly irritating character in general, though he seemed cool as a kid at the start.

All in all I don't regret seeing it in the theater but I probably won't want to see it more than once more at most.

You're not the only one, I couldn't stand his voice...

Anyway, I saw it today and I thought it was pretty bad :/
To me it just seemed like it was played out wrong and the end just made me face palm...

I didn't realize that this was supposed to be an adaptation of that. I just wondered why the kid would try to copy Fantasia, then be suprised when it turns out the same way.

Saw it today, and thought it was fairly entertaining. Nothing too spectacular, but not bad. The final battle was a bit anticlimactic though
two hours of crazy shit, then the final battle is a guy shooting light at someone while they stand still and cackle? Not quite what I was hoping for...
It was fun spotting the similarities to bad Indy!Harry fanfiction though. Heir of Merlin, identified by his ability to do wandless magic (well, ringless), and the villainous sidekick Drake - complete with leather pants.

Saw it and its not a bad movie but I'll tell you straight off that this movie is laughably predictable. I guessed exactly what was coming from moment to moment with no difficulty at all. That said if you can get over that it is somewhat entertaining.
