Minato is my new favourite character. Nagato can eat shit for all I care, the Yondaime was awesome.

Also, did anyone else notice that Sarutobi was referred to as the Sandaime Hokage despite Minato supposedly being the current one?

 

Well... Minato only won if you think that being sealed in Naruto is a worse fate than getting eaten by Shikigami. By most standards, Kyuubi got the better deal.

Think of it this way.

Obama is the 44th, current President of the USA. But Bush was the 43rd, and will always be the 43rd president.

The Sandaime will always be the third Hokage. As the 3rd Hokage, his title is Sandaime Hokage. So there's nothing wrong with him being called that regardless of Minato's status as the current Hokagd.

fucking great chapter. Finally we get to see Minato kick some serious ass. Madara is a complete badass and Minato seems to be taking him to school. Not to mention stopping Kyubi's DBZ attack with a goddamn space time barrier.

Epic.

 

I thought it was pretty interesting that Sarutobi still seemed to have a lot of pull and responsibility within the ninja forces. Having ANBU under his direct control and easily rallying Konoha's forces makes me think he didn't really retire from ninja life at all.

Basically, Konoha had 2 Kages, and one was Jesus Christ.

 

Correction: One was God, One was David, and Jesus is on his way like the prophecy foretold.

 

This was one of my thoughts as well. It seems like Sarutobi didn't go into true retirement and was still active in some capacity as a Konoha ninja.

The God of Shinobi + Yondaime = no can defend. Throw in Jiraiya and perhaps the other 2 Sannin before they split and you can see why Konoha seems to be the most disliked and feared ninja village. And that's not even going into Konoha's renowned clans and Konoha's founding when they had the epic Senjuu brothers and the Uchiha clan (before they fell into disgrace).

When you look at it like that, it's not surprising that they had to go to war with pretty much all the other major villages at some point in time after the initial founding of the village system.

 

I'm starting to like the manga a bit more now. I thought it went downhill a bit after Pain was defeated, but it's starting to look up. I like the revelations we're getting about the history of the Nine-Tailed fox, and the glimpses we're getting of Minato's and Madara's powers.
As an aside: What ever happened to demon's desire? It seems to have disappeared.

 

They ran out of hosting and moved to a free host. I think they're called demon's shadow now, but the community died.

Minato is truly the most badass character in manga and Madara is like a schoolboy in front of him.

 

Minato pretty much made Madara look like a fool. This also explains why in the earlier chapters the Kyubi is shown outside the village, as well as why Konoha seemed to suffer little lasting structural damage.

 

I am going to make a prediction about a subject from a ways back.

Who Kabutomaru had in the coffin. I say Minato.

If Minato sealed half of the Kyuubi with himself in the Shinigami then it makes sense that you would need to bring back Minato in order to get that half of the Kyuubi.

I think that this was the reason why Madara wanted Nagato, he had a power that could accomplish that.

Once Nagato died, he needed someone else who could also raise the dead. I think Madara figured Sasuke learned the Impure Resurrection from Orochimaru making Sasuke more integral to his plan.

Now we have Kabutomaru to make that part of the plan work and Sasuke goes back to his previous level of importance, whatever that is.

 

That theory has a major flaw: assuming that was the entire reason Madara needed Sasuke, why does he still want him after getting Kabutochimaru's help? He could just hand Sasuke over to get what he needs in that case, if I'm not misreading something somewhere.

It stands to reason (ugh...I don't quite believe I'm applying that word to Naruto) that Madara would know how high level seals like that work, especially in relation to powerful demons, or powerful anything for that matter.

 

Not sure if it is misreading so much as glossing over some words.

Dunno Ins, but my theory is that he does. Madara has had a long time to figure out what Minato did and spent an undisclosed amount of time in Konoha since that day.

 

It's that having Kabutochimaru makes Sasuke's potential knowledge of Impure Resurrection or whatever useless. It completely counteracts the first bolded point.
