...well these reviews have killed the brief desire I may have had to go see this movie.

Seriously. I really was looking forward to this. I guess I should've known it would be shit.

As far as I know, there are no books. It was made specifically for TV.

I might go see it anyway depending. Sounds like some of my extended family is going to try to have dinner and see a movie for the 4th of July. If we end up with a lot of under-12s in the group then this is probably what we'll end up watching.

They should have done this with an Asian cast. This is as bad as Clash of the Titans, worst movie of 2010.

I'm going to have to chime in and agree that this was a complete clusterfuck. I want to shoot all of the actors, as well as M. Night.

It was a disappointment in so many ways, especially considering how awesome the TV show was. I was hoping the superpower Aang scene at the end would redeem the movie somewhat, but then he just had to go and spare the Fire Nation ships. Ugh.

Damn and the trailers actually looked kinda interesting - should have known better than to let them get my hopes up.

Think I'll save my money on this one.

If you actually looked at this looked forward to it despite knowing who the director was you're a naive idiot and a hopeless optimist whose soul will continue to be shattered in new and never before seen ways each time M. Night Shyamalan brings out a new movie.

His movies are all shit. Every single last one of them. What on Earth could make any of you think this would be any different?

It wasn't a thought, it was a fleeting, desperate hope that one of the greatest cartoons of all time would turn into a badass movie. A desperate hope that maybe it's ingrained awesomeness would make up for the fact that M. Night Shyamalan was directing it. :(

Sorry, just as any crap idea can be done well, any brilliant idea can be turned into crap. Unfortunately for us, M. Night is extremely talented at doing the latter and picking popular ideas to test his talent on.

EDIT: I take it back, Unbreakable was half-decent.

I think this video just about sums up everyone's reaction to this film.

Lets look at the upside, this way the movie won't get a sequel and having a movie of a cartoon TV show that ended just one-two years earlier was just a cheap and hasty try to make money anyway. So this way, Shyamalan won't direct 3 movies about Avatar and maybe, 5-7 years later, they will make a good Avatar adaptation with a kick@ss director, good actors and great effects like it deserves.

I know, naive, but it can happen.

Damn Director. Fuck you. You ruined it.

Avatar had so much potential. It could have been easily milked into three movies, with the proper cast and crew and a proper director.

I wished the guys behind the animation had done this project, instead of some Moron who only did it because he was amused about the cartoons and his kids adored it.

Asshole. The last films he directed were shit as well.

Why do you people all sound surprised? Aekiel is exactly dead on the money right, this is fucking M. Night here, I consider it a flat out miracle that he didn't throw it into hyper-douche and put in one of his usual shitty as fuck twists and have the whole thing turn out to be a boy in a coma's fantasy world or something like that.

Watched the trailer and the only thing I can say is that it looks like the movie was white-washed.

Right, a good friend of my dad is an Imam with some serious religious credentials, I think I'm going to ask him if he'd mind issuing a fatwa to take this guy out. Probably wouldn't go for it, since he's one of the moderate, let's talk about the issues, sort of priests.

    Already posted, but different source.

And so rage turns to hope.

My only problem with this was that I shipped Taang. :(
