So, anyone fancy an OTT comic-book movie about the perils of dating? From the director of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.

    Teaser trailer

    Theatrical trailer

    Looks ridiculously cool.

EDIT: I have searched, but didn't find it. Sorry if it has been posted before.

I tend not to see movies in theaters unless they are completely awesome(Obviously, this is subjective.) The last I saw was the Dark Knight.

I think I'll plan to see this one(In theaters).

I'm not digging Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, but knowing that Wright is directing, and by the looks of the trailer, this may be an awesome adaptation.

I'm all about this movie... and I just noticed who was playing one of the Evil Exes.

Brandon Routh. I fucking hate this guy usually in most anything he's in, despite the fact he's a decent actor and has a lot of good roles. However, I was fucking rolling at the end of the trailer.

    Cera: "I dislike you, kapesh?"
Routh: "Tell it to the cleaning lady on Monday."
    Cera: "What?"
Routh: "Because you'll be dust by Monday."
    Cera: "Um..."
Routh: "Because you'll be pulverized in 2 seconds, and the cleaning lady cleans up... dust. She dusts."
<makes a dusting motion that sets me into a fit of laughter>

This is totally a see-in-theaters movie for me. I can't fucking wait!

You guys should definitely check out the comics, too. They're pretty awesome stuff.

Edit: New Ramona Flowers avatar in honor of the epicness that is this movie.

So, it is about to come out in theaters in the US! I felt it was time to remind everyone to check it out; I definitely will be. This is going to be one of the few movies I'll shell out the dough to see in the theaters this year. It's had some great reviews so far, also.

I'd love to hear some other members' opinions...has anyone in one of the countries it is already released in seen it?

I just saw this today, and I thought it was fucking AWESOME. I'm not quite sure how much of that is just nerdgasm, but it definitely wasn't bad. The funny parts were funny, the action parts were action-y, and the whole comic-movie style (ie, the sound effects in visual form) wasn't nearly as annoying as I thought it would be. Wright did a very good job of translating the feel of the comics into a 2-hour movie.

It definitely helps to have read the comic before seeing the movie. Some parts of the movie follow the books very closely, while other parts don't, and there's lots of little quotes and inside jokes directly from the pages of the comic. Since they condensed six volumes into a couple hours, though, it's a bit choppy - the movie focuses more on keeping things moving and being awesome than holding your hand plot-wise, so again, knowledge of the comic is a good thing.

I would definitely recommend seeing it at least once, and definitely at the cinema - it's the sort of movie that works better big and loud.

I just got home from watching this, and it is definitely something I recommend to everyone. It is funny, with a kickass soundtrack that adds to the movie, and action scenes that are engaging to the audience, not just a big blowup action sequence. The visual effects weren't distracting; they were trippy, beautiful, and really reflected the fact that this was a comic book.

The acting was pretty good, too, Michael Cera only got on my nerves once or twice, which was a surprise. I was also surprised at just how well they packed everything into the movie; it was easy to follow, despite the amount of characters and the fact that he has to fight seven exes. At no point did I wonder who a character was, or feel that a scene was too short.

Most of all, this was a movie that energized me. I left the theater raving, and felt like I could run a mile. I would go again in a second if a friend wanted to see it. (and a third time after that!)

    5/5!!!!!

Well, I just watched the trailer for it.

Am I the only one who thought it looked absolutely fucking terrible?

    Will not watch. :/

Michael Cera annoys the shit out of me [I literally hate this character he plays in every single movie] but I'll probably see it anyway.

No, you aren't. It just doesn't appeal to me, at all. I like Michael Cera, or at least don't dislike him at all, but this just didn't look very good at all.

Scott Pilgrim = awesome! Seriously, it's a brilliant film, very funny, loads of cool action, not a single bad performance, and surprisingly heart warming. I went in in something of a bad mood, and came out with the biggest grin on my face. One of the best films I've seen this year.
