I liked it, too. Pretty good one-shot. I was a bit weirded out by Luna using the word 'fuck' though.

"The beginning of the end" is pretty good. Although it's not really special, it could make the library imo.
    4/5.

    Rating-Nc17

    Author-Anonymous author

    Pairing: Mainly Harry/Cho,With mentions of Harry/Ginny, Cho/Cedric, Cho/Michael

Summary-When Harry and Cho cross paths far from home, painful secrets are disinterred.

Comments: Very good Harry/Cho. It's smutty and has a very interesting plot, though I don't like it's depiction of vampires. I'd put it up for review but it's got a lot of angst.

I rather enjoyed that. Very angsty, especially at the end, and I agree about the vampires (although the worst thing for me as Azkatraz. Seriously?) Solid 3/5.

I was pleasantly surprised by Just Friends...a little turned on too. If this had been recommended for the Library, I think I would have given it a 3.7/5, rounded up to 4. I really wish this was longer, and it is making me jones for a Harry/Luna HBP redo. Damn.

Apparently there is a spoiler for the most recent Dresden book, sorry Warlocke.

Halfway decent Harry/Dresden crossover. Not anywhere close to library material, but it's not a terrible way to waste five minutes of your time.

    Edit: Oops sorry about that.

Eh... As pure crack, it's not a completely fruitless way to pass the time, however, the plot device that gets the story started is ridiculously flimsy. I mean, really, tissue thin.

Also, maybe it's just me, but I squirm uncomfortably when stories delight in having Harry, considering his history of abuse, getting beaten on by people who are supposed to be his friends, family, or love interests, and expect the reader to laugh.

So here's Harry getting beaten on by Hermione in her sleep, haha, and Harry getting beaten on by her (consciously) when he tries to tell someone what happened, haha, and Harry getting bullied by...

    Enough already.

The fact that, after Hermione makes it clear she will hurt him if he points the finger at her, he switches to "I fell down the stairs", the STANDARD excuse abuse victims and their abusers give for their injuries, is the final blow that sucks Every. Last. Ounce. of potential humor from that section of the story.

I see this kind of thing all the time in HP fanfic and it always makes me wonder if the author ever actually goes back and reads their work when they finish a chapter. And, if so, do they have their brain engaged when doing so. How can they miss the unfortunate implications of what they're writing?

Some authors will ramp up the abuse that Harry receives at the Dursleys to ridiculously EPIC (in a shitty way) proportions, treatment so brutal even death eaters are appalled... then, fully aware of his background, they'll STILL have girlfriend!Hermione punch him in the arm and hit him over the head every time he so much as makes a lighthearted joke.

Literally, they'll have at least one punch in EVERY paragraph where Harry is talking with Hermione. How they can write that and not see a disturbing parallel with his abusive past is beyond me. Sure, a playful swat when he makes a crack about something is one thing -it's harmless- but when the word "Punch" is used after every bit of dialogue, something is clearly malfunctioning in the writer's brain.

There are hundreds of thousands of mediocre/indifferent fics out there, and this is one of the most frustrating type. In the hands of a competent writer, the concept would actually have good potential as a humor fic, IMO. In the hands of a guy who sometimes fails to spell "Archive" correctly, and who has only a rudimentary sense of humor...not so much.

Well, I think my almost recommendation of this was a little premature, because the fourth chapter has taken this from an average fic to awesomely bad territory. I mean the amount of ridiculousness that it injects into the story's plot is hilarious. House elves going on a rampage because they actually Dark Elves, who have been magically enslaved by wizards for the last one thousand years, who have now been released by Hermione. Doesn't get much better than that, plus Hermione ends up married, sorry soul bonded, to Kreacher in dark elf form.

    Link to Chapter 4

This is really only the tip of the iceberg, and it would probably take me a while to lampoon the rest of it. So I'm just going to rescind my recommendation and get out of here.

The Strange Disappearance Of Sally Anne Perks

Summary: Harry recalls that a pale little girl called Sally-Anne was sorted into Hufflepuff during his first year, but no one else remembers her. Was there really a Sally-Anne? Harry and Hermione set out to solve the chilling mystery of the lost Hogwarts student.

Interesting and will keep an eye on it. Too short to rate at the moment though.

    WARNING!!!

If you are at all interested in the Dresden books and are not completely current in your reading, do yourself a favor and don't click on this story.

I know one should always be wary of reading fan fic for a series one isn't completely up to date on, as I am no where near caught up with the Dresden Files, but one hopes that the author will start off with a spoiler warning of some sort, letting you know where in the timeline the fic takes place so you can read or pass on it accordingly.

Instead this story starts with an author's note that contains what I can only assume is an epic level spoiler for the most recent book. I don't even know if the fic contains spoilers, the opening note is bad enough.

And, Roma, whether we should know better by now or not, a little warning next time would be swell.

I'm really liking this so far. It's really quite a terrifying idea when you think about it, a girl being almost completely, but not quite, wiped out of existence when everyone else is too busy to really notice.

EDIT: The author is apparently a major slash artist though, so excessive caution is warranted.

Interesting. The dialogue bugs me a little; it feels rather stilted and too formal in places, and self-consciously mysterious in others. Other than that, I like.

For what little there is I'm actually liking it. It has major potential.
