My favorite anime ever finally made into a live action movie. If they don't fuck it up I think this will be one of the best Anime live action flics, It has such a rich storyline and it's presented in such a funny way. I sincerley hope they don't intent to do this crank style or something. This has great potential though and M. Night isn't getting near this baby. Hopefully Keanu will be able to pronounce Spike without to much trouble(all the names in this series are basically English) .

Oh and Keanu Reeves is confirmed for the role of Spike( reference avatar).

I'm a little hesitent about it but I think he could play the lazy bounty hunter with a dark past pretty well actually, even if he does look a bit ridiculous.

Possibly. To be honest, the whole idea of it rather annoys me. Cowboy Bebop is one of the best things I've ever watched; why bother putting it through the Hollywood machine? It just seems a little pointless. That said, I'll probably end up seeing it if only so I can bitch about it properly...

I completley understand where your coming from but I think the script of Cowboy bebop is such that hollwood wouldn't need to tinker with it to much. It fits into the action genre very well and has all the nescessairy angst/comic relief with a touch of sexual tention. The best thing they could do is get Shinichirō Watanabe and do as little as possible. Besides I always felt a little unsatisfied with the ending, not that I want them to change that but a few more scenes of character interaction would do a little good.

Also I hope they keep that soundtrack becausee it just fitted so well with the theme of the entire anime

If The Seatbelts don't do the soundtrack, we have definitive proof that there is a God and that he hates us all.

I'm not opposed to there being a few other songs in there but the opening and closing should remain unchanged, In fact I would rather they just inserted exactly the same opening and closing credits(with names changed).

Hello. My name is Vash. These statements demand that I quote them to further emphasize their ability to speak statements affirming the nature of realty.

    TL;DR: Quote for Truth.

But seriously, you know what would be awesome beyond words?

The Seatbelts and The Pillows on the same soundtrack!

Also; I found a sneak peak of the movie online. :3

If this could somehow happen......I would literally cry. The pillows are really popular now(the only japanese band I listen to regularly) but if they agreed [IMG]

And I think deep down Keanu has one good performance in him andif that emotionless son of a bitch could play one character I could imagine it being Spike(at least I hope so).

Oh and they took a poll deciding if Reeves would make a good Spike- http://www.theanimeblog.com/the-anime-blog-polls/would-keanu-reeves-make-a-good-spike-spiegel/
But at least the direction of the movie seems to be in preserving the original storyline.

Honestly worst comes to worst we end up with a horrible movie but some of the people who saw the movie but haventseen the anime might be curious and take a peek and thats all they will need to watch the whole thing. End result we have enlightened a few lost souls

There seems to be a strong leaning towards our way of thinking; Keanu will ruin Spike.

Whatever the pros and cons of Reeves as Spike, I think we can all agree that he's not going to have a greenish afro.

They can't be thinking he would that would bomb the movie from the get go
I was thinking about it and who would make a good Spike?

Suedo Checklist: Tall and lanky, Chain smoker, Dry sense of humor, looks good fighting, sort of broody person with a dangerous past... Hmmmmmmmm

Haha I had this weird vision of Jeff Goldblum running around as Spike Spiegal

I could see them making a workable plot out of Cowboy Bebop's narrative, if they cut out the more unnecessary "filler" episodes. The one with the monkey virus thing, the one with the cult, "Pierrot le Fou", etc. If they just use the character episodes and main-plot episodes, condensing them just a little bit... it might work.

But we'll see. They'll probably find some way to fuck it up.

As for Keanu as Spike... well, I don't hate the guy or anything. His acting may not be god-tier, but he's not the worst. And he sounds like a pretty cool guy outside of acting too. But I'm just not so sure if he can pull off Spike the way we'd want him to. Maybe if they can dub him over with Steve Blum's voice? >_>

Somewhat unrelated, but this reminds me of that live-action Neon Genesis Evangelion movie that's apparently been stuck in development hell for years. I want to see that.

Yes, the appearance of the actor needs to be taken into account.

These things can be faked. With acting, perhaps.

I don't think they would ever have the balls to do a proper Evangelion Movie its way to sophisticated not to mention dark, and I can't even fatham trying to condense all the rules of that universe and explanations into one movie.
..... I realize this but thanks anyway....... anyways SPike is a unique character that not anyone could jump into, In a way i guess I was playing at an actor who actualley fits into these descriptions from previous roles.

Evangelion is not sophisticated. It's just fucking dumb. There's no point, it's just whiny characters going crazy.

Also, Keanu Reeves is incapable of emoting, and thus would make a terrible Spike.

I don't think it's dumb. The plot is very angst/back story saturated is all.

The only thing that bothers me about a NGE adaptation is the fact I can't think of anyone good enough to play Rei. <3 Rei.

It still amazes me how Keanu Reaves keeps getting jobs. I mean how many times does the world have to hear him say, "Whoa." :(

He's just going to suck as Spike.

I would've had faith in this film if they'd picked a bunch of no-names -because that'd mean they were hinting for talent, and moving as far away from Hollywood machine as possible.

Then again, there was 'The Last Airbender'...

Seatbelts inclusion is a given. They're drawing the cult fans with a Bebop film, so not including Seatbelts is akin to promoting 7.1 Dolby digital...and showing a silent film instead.

Wow I just realized theres a ton of live action films already confirmed But the most important ones will be released in Japan and not made in hollywood(which is both good and bad)

Some of the confirmed series to be made into movies( In JAPAN)
BECK: Mongolian Chop Sqad- this could be either really good, or really bad though there soundtrack seems solid(Red Hot Chili Peppers and Oasis agreed to let them use some songs)
Gantz: Ermmm I dunno what to make of this one I never really felt the need for a live action Gantz

    In Hollywood
Death Note: While there already like three movies about this series they are remaking the first one with an American cast... should be interesting
