Harry got an Outstanding for a little spell that shoots this cool creature of light out that protects people from Dementors. Considering this was one of few times Rowling showed Harry working for a powerful spell, I'd say there was good reason behind it. And not just plot armor.

I'm well aware that Harry wasn't the only one capable of casting it. But if I recall correctly the examiner requested Harry show it to him, for bonus points. I'm sure that same treatment wasn't given to Hermione.

 

I'm pretty sure that's about how her exam went down.

 

Cry moar, it wasn't even a necro, less than 3 days after the previous post in a WBA discussion thread. They decided not to separate the threads, it's going to keep happening as long as the story is being written.

Besides, at least I was trying to be helpful or constructive, your post is just a complaint about updates.

Been rereading the fic in the mean time, and noticed a couple of things:

1. Why is this fic rated M? Sexy times later, or gory awesome later?
2. I totally forgot Harry was rocking the slicked back look. What a tool.

And to return to the topic, somehow I've read this whole story without ever commenting before now, but I really do think that this is the best in the genre. It's a great fic and my only quibble might be with pacing, it feels a little slow to me, but that's a very minor thing. Great work.

 

Perhaps in the reactions interlude, you could have Karkaroff gloating to Dumbledore. I believe the negotiations for Triwizard tournament would be starting shortly. Afterall Karkaroff has a magical prodigy as well as quidditch genius to boast of. He could suggest how Harry choosing Durmstrang over Hogwarts and flourishing vindicates Karkaroff's methodology with regards to running a school.

Considering how competitve Hermione is, she should come across the magazine article about Harry. Her reaction should be interesting. Initially smug about her perfect grade so far to feeling vastly inferior.

Weasley might take the opportunity to try and poison Nathan's mind as to how his brother is turning dark. Harry did hex him although he was well intentioned.

 

I don't remember any hexing of Ron. I remember Harry shoving a wand under Ron's neck and a few sparks coming out of it but no hexing.

 

Harry hexed him as in Nathan not Ron.

 

That's be interesting. Not a particularly good argument, but Igor doesn't need one.

That would turn Weasley into a tiresome fanon caricature. Some bits in canon, such as Ginny's notoriety with Bat-Bogey or whatever the hell it was, or the twins' general behavior, indicate that a little spellflinging between siblings is the equivalent of rough horseplay at worst, not zomg dark bad wrong badong. There's no way he wouldn't understand that, given his family.

Besides, there's no reason for Weasley to even care much about Harry at this point.

 

I agree with the rest of your post Vorpal except this. Ron already holds a dislike for Harry and kids hold grudges for a very long time against non - family.

 

Plus he could always be threatened by the fact that no matter how close he and Nathan are, Harry is his brother and would probably always come first.

 

That part just made me LuL.
