Excellent post. Couldn't have said it better myself. And while I haven't read Dagger and Rose, I've read all too many stories where 'rape' just happens - as you said yourself - simply to bring up the hardcore cred of the story.

On the topic of Fleur - I habitually avoid stories with her as Harry's love interest because they inevitably signal the author's intention to make the story mindcrack for horny guys.

Like sugar, it makes for sweet reading - but in the end it's just substance-less.

A series of random natural events, that would make Rube Goldberg proud, temporarily disabling the 'e' key on Warlocke's keyboard for that split second he hit it is far more likely then Warlocke misspelling 'the'.

    Believe it Oz.

Yeah, but the fun was irrelevant. Warlocke doesn't come to DLP for the lulz, he comes for the articles. Durr durr.

I only read the first few pages of this thread, but I saw other people suggesting fics for removal and you responding saying the fic was 'nominated for removal', so I simply posted what fic I personally didn't like--not *just* because of the rape, though that was the final straw for me. I don't see how it turned into such a big deal when a bunch of other people did the exact same thing earlier in the thread, without giving reasons for disiking the fics they wanted gone.

I didn't like the fic for a variety of reasons, of which I thought I mentioned a few, however this isn't the place for reviews of certain fics, I just assumed everyone was allowed to nominate fics for removal they thought were of lower quality than the others.

    And:
I'm sorry, but this post is so completely silly and not at all what I said, that I'm not going to get into an internet debate over it.

Man. You like to stir things up, then claim not to want to argue. Keep it to the politics subsection.

A bit more on-topic, I like the changes made to the admission process, and things are certainly shaping up. I'm actually re-reading most of the fics in the C2, as I haven't in years, for some of them. Good quality stuff.

I just want to note that my average hits per day has quite literally doubled since the C2 premiered and has been steadily growing on a daily basis. Seeing as how I haven't updated in like, three weeks (ugh, moving's a bitch), I'm going to go ahead and claim that this is in fact a result of being in the C2, as that's the only factor that changed and the jump coincides directly.

    How's everyone else doing?

DLP, a DM/HG group and an HP/LV are above us. We need to step this shit up.

DM and HG are just so similar. They obviously belong together. Voldemort and Harry, even more so. What with the horrible childhoods and being manipulated by Dumbledore and being misunderstood by the press, always working for the side of good. They're just so similar. Don't pay any mind to Voldemort murdering innocents all over the goddamn place, and Harry being his sworn mortal enemy. Or the fact that Hermione and Draco have a hate-hate relationship.

Anyway, for the sane section of my post, I'm wondering about these hits to the stories in the C2. I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the are just DLP members that are just realizing how much awesome they had previously been missing. Not that it matters, though.

That's...possibly a large part of the increase in hits. I know I've probably added 2-3 hits to things adding incomplete (and active) stories to alerts on various ff.net accounts (for certain e-mails I check, yadda). I do think the further up the ranks we climb the larger the increase to hits from the C2 will be (well, obviously - I just think it'll be greater than anticipated).

Hehe, it took me forever to figure out what you meant; I thought there was still an error in my post.

Yeah, I'm decent at spelling, but I'm a horrible typist. The society of ancient man was comprised of hunters and peckers... like my ancestors, I too hunt and peck. That I sit in the dark probably doesn't help.

Home keys, what are they? Touch typing, you mean as opposed to using telekinesis?

Sometimes I'll start typing one key over and yshrfu happens.

    I mean tragedy.

I make lots of mistakes, but it's all in the editing.

Horribly, I indulge in some of the fluffiest guilty-pleasure reading imaginable. Luckily no one's found out yet.

    ..

    ...

    Oh Shiiiiii-

"It burns us! Nasty fangirls twisted it!"

On topic: If we could surpass "Harry and Draco's Love Shack" by Monday, I'd consider this week complete...

I'm also anxiously awaiting the trouncing of #5, the veela soul mate C2. Not only is it mostly Harry/Draco according to the description, said description has "alot" instead of "a lot," "except" instead of "expect," and other errors, all in such a small space...

It's more than any sane person should be forced to endure.

The beginning does admittedly suck, but once the basilisk appears, you can tell the author started to improve drastically. Rather original concepts abound, and great characterization, with Igor, Sirius and Fleur being especially strong.

Sadly abandoned, but still, it's almost 200,000 words.

Indeed, he thanks several notable DLP members (and also maybe Alpha Fight Club members) at the end of the last chapter.

Jack's story is one of the finest examples of a story written long ago that still retains some awesome ideas, and is, in my opinion, still a pleasure to read. I'd second its inclusion into the C2, if we were still doing that system; I have no idea what its library rating is, but I imagine its within acceptable parameters for consideration.
