While I agree, if you listen to it without having heard the original in quite a while it isn't a half bad song. That said, I just listened to the original after 5FDP's version and now I want to punch someone.

I mainly just like it for his voice, it just sounds great.

EDIT: And oh, here's another one, Infected Mushroom covering Riders on the Storm by The Doors, well it's a remix but hey, it's still good.

Not bad. I like Gabriel & Dresden's Dust in the Wind more.

Mothertufkcxifndsifns shitfuck! Hate those faggots, hate that local hard rock FM stations play that shit, hate that they felt compelled to shit, piss and cum all over a great song.

They need to die in a plane crash.

There's some really nice stuff in this thread. :D

    Here's some contributions:

Pomplamoose - Telephone (originally: Lady GaGa Ft Beyonce)
Pomplamoose - La Vie en Rose (originally: Edith Piaf)
Pomplamoose - September (originally: Earth Wind & Fire)

I'm a big fan of Pomplamoose. There are some really great covers to be found on you tube, but Pomplamoose has the distinction of being one of the very few groups where I actually like their original works as well. Nataly and Jack have some great stuff in their individual channels too.

Julia Nunes - Survivor (originally: Destiny's Child)

I have no idea, so don't ask. Something about this just makes me like it, heh. Maybe middle-school nostalgia, or something.

The Deftones - Chauffeur (originally: Duran Duran)

From back when The Deftones were actually good.

The Sundays - Wild Horses (originally: Rolling Stones)

Sacrilegious to some, perhaps, but I still adore this version.

Banya - Beethoven Virus (originally: ...)

Mostly, I've had way too much fun playing Osu! to this song. And Beethoven is my favourite composer by a magnitude of several thousands. I've heard some really nice Moonlight Sonata variations/adaptations too, though I can't recall any in particular at the moment.

Less Than Jake - I Think I Love You (originally: David Cassidy)

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - I Love Rock and Roll (originally: The Arrows)

I like LTJ and Joan Jett more than is healthy.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - Over the Rainbow (originally: Judy Garland)

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes have quite a few others good covers.

There's a bunch of punk covers of songs from the 50's-70's that I really like, but frankly.. I can't find most of them in mp3 format, never mind youtube. :\ The Isely Brothers' songs feature heavily amongst my favourites.

YouTube video doesn't do this justice. The bass is all fucked up. I suggest getting a copy of it.

Huh. Sweet find, SK; they made a huge-puss song sound halfway tolerable.

    /adds to running playlist

Pomplamoose = awesome. Solo Jack Conte = way awesome.

Solo Nataly ? Meh :-/ To be fair, Jack's a hypertalented multiinstrumentalist, but still.

And Julia Nunes...I dunno why I like her, but there's something very earnest about her style that's appealing, almost like Colbie Caillat.

The Bit-52's* cover of The B-52's Rock Lobster. That is, Rock Lobster performed entirely by robots. 8D

*:Bit-52's taken from the video. Not my awesome attempt at humor. :(

Taure, WTF! Laaame cover. Its a shit song to start with, and if you're gonna rock it up, at least do it properly. Swedish band Lillasyster shows how its done.

And as Zennith said on the first page. JC's cover of NiN's Hurt is obviously the best cover ever.

And Jimi Hendrix All Along The Watchtower comes in a close second along with Bear McCreary's version from BSG. Friggin' win.

And so far, The Silent Knight's contribution is awesome, Disturbed on U2. Good shit. And this thread needs a companion....

I personally like Failure's cover of Enjoy the Silence - I think DM's Dave Gahan was quoted as saying he liked it better than the original. Of course he was probably baked at the time so ... <shrugs>

Also, no Renegades of Funk listed yet?

I just discovered the wealth of awesomeness that is The Black Keys.

So far, I really enjoy their cover of Have Love Will Travel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJJX1if_LFk

The song was originally by Richard Berry and was later covered by The Sonics in '65.

I like it. Different style from the original but still has the catchy rhythm that made Zeppelin's so awesome. Could have done with slightly less voice alteration though.
