I dunno. I always thought Tobi was Obito or maybe one of the iwa ninjas from Kakashi Gaiden. Also, the timing is wrong for Shisui to be playing puppeteer with the Mizukage. We know it's possible for people to scavenge dojutsu from corpses and still use them to their fullest effect (Kakashi, the mist dude with the Byakugan, Danzo), and thus it is entirely possible that Tobi is just a nobody who grabbed Obito's other eye.

We can infer that it is Obito's eye in Tobi's head, given that it appears to have the exact same powers that Kakashi has. However, it may be that a Sharingan in a non-Uchiha's head gets those powers (Although Danzo's abilities suggest that the Sharingan has a couple of different powers that have varying strength between people). This line of thought also puts a very interesting spin on the Uchiha Massacre, that perhaps Tobi set it up to harvest the Uchiha's eyes.

Fixed that for you. There's no probably involved these days. Not since the massive character destruction that was Nagato's revival technique.

 

He is, there's no doubt about that. The only other option would be that has been going around pretending to be Uchiha Madara for some barely discernable reason all this time- improbable at best.

Indeed; every bit of canon evidence indicates that Tobi is Madara. You could make an argument on the basis of Tobi's concealed face and tendency to lie a lot, but there's not really any canon evidence to support that idea. The fact that hiding Tobi's face seems to be an important thing is the only piece of evidence one could bring up for him not being Madara, and even then odds seem much better that he's telling the truth about his identity, but has some other, as yet unrevealed, secret.

I'm pretty sure it's either only hiding his identity as Madara or the fact he has used Izanagi once already and doesn't want them to know about his ultimate trump card to escape death.

The only other possibilities are that he isn't Madara or he's hiding some other secret eye technique.

 

That wouldn't work, since he showed his face to Sasuke, Kisame and probably Pain and Konan. He's probably just hiding his identity.

 

There also is the issue of Itachi and Sasuke's Amaterasu once he saw Madara's face.

Seemingly Itachi knew what was under the mask and that was his attempt in trying to destroy what ever it is. Somehow I think it was more aimed at what was under the mask, not Madara himself or his visible sharingan.

 

Except that wouldn't explain why Kisame killed himself, specifically to keep anyone from finding out what was under Madara's mask. For that matter, why would Madara still bother wearing a mask now that his identity is pretty much out in the open, and has been for a while?

Odds are, he's hiding something. I have to say that having used Izanagi to fake his death seems quite probable, but in that case he's probably got something else in that eye socket now. Considering the fact that Madara can replace a lost arm with relatively little difficulty, I doubt he would be running around with a useless eye socket for decades. Then again, given that he's clearly after Nagato's Rinnegan, perhaps that's what he has in mind for replacing his burned-out Sharingan.

 

Checked out the spoilers, shit is retarded and awesome at the same time. I'll leave you to guess on which Konnan/Madara is.

What the hell ? This is person who survived fight with Shodaime, Sandaime Tsuchikage and Yondaime Hokage ? And then he lost his arm against Root fodder and now this against Konan ? I wonder how powerful he really is.

Kind of curious to find out what the deal was with Madara's claim about the Rinnegan; assuming Madara's not lying, (never a 100% sure thing) it raises a lot of questions.
