It's like a Sci-Fi original movie. You know that it's bad, but you watch it anyway because there's nothing better to do and you're already sorta sucked in. We've got the whole laundry list of B-movie fanfic cliches here, creature!Harry, super!Goblins, a high likelyhood of incompetent Dumbledore, Ice Queen Daphne with a heart of gold, and many more to come I'm sure. All that's left to be decided is if this is Raptor Island or just another Mansquito.

I wonder if bitches' obsession with creature!Harry and Edward and all that shit stems from the fact that they lost their virginity to a trucker with a lot of back hair and are somehow trying to justify that...

    Edward's hair is 'bronze'.

    But perhaps the messy part...

I read the book just to see what all the fuss was about.

That and I have a good memory for totally useless and irrelevant information.

Horrible memory for stuff that matters, but stuff like that it's great.

The newest chapter of Sally-Anne is a bit iffy. Still enjoying this fic a lot, though.

The newest chapter of Lies That Bind is predictably terrible. I remain unconvinced that the author knows anything about the psychological effects of torture. And while this is far from being this chapter's biggest flaw, Bellatrix getting raped to death by a golem is just a little bit gratuitous.

lolwut? Seriously? I might actually have to go find that story again just for that little piece of ridiculousness. That really is a pity, as the story had some serious potential (or the idea does at least).

The last chapter had an iffy characterization of Moaning Myrtle - it wasn't much like canon's version of her. Nothing so blatant in this chapter, though I find myself wondering why the author continues to exclude Ron from the investigation. Even Ron can appreciate a good mystery, and he's not so thick that he'd deny the evidence Harry and Hermione have found already.

Still hoping that the author is going to prove me wrong and go somewhere interesting with this fic. But it makes me wonder what would have happened if you gave this author's plot bunny to the right person. Silens Cursor could have made a badass story with this bunny, IMO.

I actually like the politics in this story, while it is cliched, it is also well written and has few grammar mistakes. On top of that, the way Susan and Co. undress Hogwarts is very impressive, and even though it isn't Harry-Centric, it is good.

Crack fic-ish story, I've only read chapter 1, seems like a good fit for this thread so far.

The sad truth about good oneshots is that, often, they wouldn't have been good had they been longer.

This is due to a number of factors, most pertinent being that the concept wouldn't have held together for a longer story, and that author wouldn't have had the time/talent to maintain the quality of the oneshot for the entire length of a multi-chaptered/novel-length story.

    Title: Mein Teil
    Author: Crowe
    Pairing: Ron/Faith (Implied)
    Rating: FR18
    Link: http://www.tthfanfic.org/Story-10742/Crowe+Mein+Teil.htm
Story Summary: It was supposed to be easy. Just a simple trip back to the past for Ron and Faith to stop Voldemort before he became too much of a problem. Too bad nothing is as simple as it seems. Contains Deathly Hallow spoilers.

Ron and Faith travel back in time from an alternate reality HP/BtVS future to the middle of fifth year HP, or about a year after S7 Buffy. Ron's the central character, though Faith gets a lot of time too, but he really doesn't have very much in common with canon Ron. It follows too closely to HP canon, but it's well written and a fun read.

Given that most HP/BtVS offerings are pretty dismal, it's worth a read if you like the crossover. Thus far, not a single character from Buffy has attended Hogwarts! The story's a WIP, but it was updated today, so guessing it's not dead. Harry does feature in the story, but thus far he's been Book 5 Canon Harry, which is less than awesome.

    Fixed that for you.

And also, a Ron-centric story? I might give it a glance for lulz material.
