He probably indirectly was responsible for the whole situation that gave Nagato his Rinnegan. Or he is like Aizen and planed this from Nagato birth.

I was sort of intrigued that their "rebel faction" actually lived in the city. I wonder how that worked out... Hanzou apparently didn't have a good reign on things.

And the idea that Madara got Nagato his Rinnegan and made Yahiko form Akatsuki is just lol. I'll believe it when I see it, and probably not even then. Dude got trolled... again.

 

Or he's just lying to screw with Konan's head. Wouldn't be the first time he's done something like that.

As for epic Konan, I don't think it was a matter of anyone doubting the character so much as it is that Kishimoto has, at best, a rather mixed track record when it comes to making women effective in a fight. At least Konan isn't getting repeatedly almost-killed, and then going off on a long internal monologue about how useless she is because she's a weak woman, and only the men can actually do anything useful.

 

I can believe that Madara honestly believes it. That's about it.

Also, I don't know where Madara will find his army, but if this suppose to be a war, then I hope we will see an epic battle between more than few ninja at the same time.

This. Best way to abrogate anything Konnan does is to completely cock up the Mizukage's support to the alliance, and get Mist ninjas to act as cannon fodder.

 

Not so keen on the 'Madara gave Nagato the Rinnegan' nonsense but the fight itself was pretty cool and the flashback was actually interesting.

What I really liked about this chapter though is the drawing itself. There was, in my opinion, some very impressive imagery which the chapter (and Konan) certainly deserved.

 

It also looks like the folks who got turned into Rikudou Pain were part of Yahiko's faction. I see a few of them in that flashback.

 

I could see Madara believing he gave Nagato the Rinnegan under the right circumstances, such as if he set up the situation to awaken that ability within Nagato.

Perhaps he had to track down who was capable of manifesting the ability in the first place, so anything that came thereafter technically should belong to him since it might not have happened otherwise and would have lain dormant and shrouded in myth.

 

Boom-Angel Konan was beastly awesome.

Yeah, but Nagato was a civilian kid from a civilian family in a country that wasn't known for its ninja. Just makes no sense that Madara would be able to seek out and manipulate events to give the Rinnegan to a little scared kid.

Seems too far-fetched even for this manga.

It's not yet over though, poor Konan could still die, with the flashbacks about her life, she may end up like Kisame.

Losing an arm for Madara's nothing. He won't kill Konan until he learns where Nagato's hidden.

This chapter made me sick with the thought, especially after Konan's ending lines... there are enough bad Time-Travel fics, I seriously hope I'm wrong.
