The trailers always look great - WB has some trailer-making wizards of their own, even when the movie turns out to be average at best.

Here's hoping that DH1 is at least pretty good.

    Dude, it's Deathly Hallows.

Pretty sure it's failure is a forgone conclusion.

With the DH movies, I've been hoping that they would completely ignore Rowling's 3rd person limited narrator (among other things). More than any of the other books, there are plenty of times in DH when the most interesting stuff is happening out of Harry's sight.

I suspect they're only going to do a little bit of that - a pity, but not unexpected. So yeah, once again I'm expecting only an average movie at best. If it's better than that, then all's well.

It's like she combined First Person and Third Person Limited, with none of the positives of either. The books are limited to one perspective, yet lacking the deep characterization of First Person.

    /mini-rant off.

The setting looks like something out of LotR, and the characters from a bad Star Wars movie. Some stuff looked cool, but as a whole, the trailer left be slightly disappointed.

Well, if the content you get to work with is shit, your only option is to make it look good. So, with this in mind, it will probably look good, but unless the screenwriters, the director and producers showed Rowling the finger, the movie will be shit if we ignore the effects.

The trailer was kinda cool, though. As blazano said, they do have some trailer wizards :)

I was confused as to why there was a thestral in the trailer, and went back to pause it...
and had a WTF moment when I saw it was Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour. Where did they get a thestral?

Trailer looks fucking awesome, but so do all the trailers.

Also, is it just me or is Grindlewald extremely clean shaven?

I disagree. I'm expecting it average plot-wise, but it seems like an awesome movie effects-wise. Best than any of the previous works.

Man, those WB trailer guys could grab a piece of shit, wrap it in aluminium foil, stick a pair of fishing hooks and sell it as earrings.

Given that my overall impression of Deathly Hallows was some cool scenes strung together by a fairly limp plot, I'm kinda looking forward to this. Seeing the action on screen should be good *crosses fingers*

For me, it's probably going to be a mixed bag. There are some recurring visual effects that I haven't been particularly happy with.

I friggin' hate the whole black-covered flying Death Eater thing - they look like corrupted comets of failure. :( I'm not super-fond of the way most spells look, either - in my mind's eye, they have a stronger visual component. Maybe not this dramatic, but more so than how they're usually shown.

On the other hand, I expect the Battle of Hogwarts in DH2 to look spectacular overall - I'm looking forward to seeing that.

BTW, anyone have thoughts on 3D for this movie? I'm leaning toward seeing it in 2D; I don't like when they film in 2D and convert to 3D after the fact.

I liked it, but they overused that whole screen stretching action thing to death.

And did anyone get flashback to OotP Ginny's reducto in the Department of Mysteries with Hermione in that forest chase scene, when she just flicked her wand over her shoulder and threw a mortar shell's worth of explosive spell like flicking a cobweb? Shit was hardcore.

You know what? I'm looking forward to watching this movie, with my girlfriend, and I'm certain if I leave any knowledge of what happened in the books at home, then I won't have any problem enjoying this movie; that said, I don't remember most of what happened in Deathly Hallows.

So, I'm good. I'm smoking some spice before I go see the flick though, so I imagine I'll be pretty stoked no matter what...

And Luna would sue them for stepping all over her patent.

Lulz for the scene with all the people polyjuiced into Harry. You can tell who is who just by looking at them; well, except for which twin is which, perhaps. Fleur, Ron, and Hermione are cracking me up (and Dung's face :awesome).

I think the first draft of that scene went a little like this: 'And for the first time in his life, Ron Weasley's penis was as big as that of his love potion-addled girlfriend.'

Absolute garbage, that is. :facepalm I'd like to have a conversation with whoever thought that up, if only to see if their eyes focus independently of each other.

To some (great) extent, the fact that the whole of both upcoming movies is leading to the "Nineteen Years Later" epilogue will taint my enjoyment of them.

Question: Do you think Hermione, in 19-years-later, would realized that at some point in her life she owned Harry's manhood?

Nice for H/Hr shipper. Thanks JKR, for this.

NB: Women should not become men by all means, especially by Polyjuice Potion, and vice-versa. Imagine what they can do.
