The unanswerable question. Danger Mouse was epic, as was Thundercats, Captain Planet and this bad boy (which is probably the gayest, as opposed to the best)

They don't make cartoons anymore, they make 30 minute infomercials for their new line of toys. At least in the 80s the show came first, and if it did well, then the toys. I think what, GI Joe was the only exception where the show was designed to push the toys?

True. And I hate the look of cartoons these days.

I worked for an animation studio before, and they prefer the easiest to produce (less details), compensating the lack of art with over the top audio effects and ridiculous plots. The faster we churned out the scripts, the more happy the studio was.

With today's animation programs, studios could easily bring back the style of cartoons of the eighties and early nineties, but I guess younger kids these days prefer to watch aesthetically simplified mythical characters that looks less like them.

That and Anime's the in thing now.

I literally cannot believe nobody has mentioned Transformers.

Transformers was my childhood. All twenty-six years of it. It has probably the greatest theme song in the entire world of theme songs, and John Williams can suck the fuck out.

I'm happy for you and I'mma let you finish, but I just wanted to say Swat Kats was awesome.

That's right, I used to pretend to be sick to skip school and watch cats fight crime in a fighter jet.

Eh, it was a great cartoon, but the theme song was only so-so.

That said, clicking your link put me in view of someone's "Top Cartoon Theme's of the 90's" vid....motherfucking Tazmania 8D

I also liked the Extreme Ghostbusters intro. The voice effect halfway through reminded me of Lenny Kravitz for some reason.

This may be somewhat unrelated to the thread, but here's a neat fan-art if you haven't seen it before.

Anime's (was--dunno how popular it is these days) the in thing because despite its diminishing quality, most shows are still quite well drawn, and despite the plethora of high-school harem moe anime, there's still good shows that don't assume their audience is 3.

    Here are my contributions:

.Hack//Sign - Definitely my favorite intro of the three.

Yu Yu Hakusho - Awesome show and a pretty good opening theme song.

Gundam Wing - I liked this show the best but the opening was third best of these imo.

    This.
    So sue me.

From anime I like a couple of intros, but none of them are English.

This is THE BEST cartoon intro ever. Unfortunately it got canceled before it had a chance to air. I apologise for the poor quality of the footage, but I'm sure you will see its magnificence shining through anyway.

The Americanized Sailor Moon intro that never was.
