While my initial reaction to this was mixed, at the end of the day I sure hope not. Especially with the way the series was going with Books 6 and 7.

She could write stories about the marauders, that would make it more interesting, or even during the time of the founders.

I'd read a book about that rather than a post Deathly Hallows series.

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure she has always been open to the possibility of writing more Harry Potter books, or at least more books in the Potter universe.

I do hope that she writes an A/U of her novel series, or at least a divergence at a certain point in the series; scientists have theorized about the 'multiverse theory' for a very long time, and that a every possible outcome in a decision and the resulting decisions open from the former creates a new universe/timeline.

The 'butterfly effect' from even the most smallest of divergences could drastically alter the direction of the series; that includes pairings, plot outcomes, evolution of characters, etc. Heck, Harry could even 'go dark', and become a serious rival to Voldemort.

There were also quite a few scrapped plotlines of hers that were never used: Arthur Weasley dying at the snake attack, Tonks and Lupin surviving, etc. These could easily be spun into a divergence point timeline/sequence of events.

This could also allow her to go into deeper detail about her universe, offering glimpses/indepth new canon lore to the readers about races such as the veela and spells and such that existed in the magical world, but were simply not explored in the first/main timeline. (Like looking through different windows -the books from each timeline- into the same house -canon lore and universe-).

Not many authors have seemed to have done this with their own works, though. Plus, with the way she prattles on about Harry and Gin-slut's spawn in post-DH interviews and such, I get the feeling that any storyline is going to be about 'the next generation'.

I still laugh when I see "Albus Severus".

She COULD, but something tells me she's not creative enough (or, at least, isn't willing to) explore most of the things about magic in depth. Didn't she contradict herself on how apperation is used three or four times?

Besides that, you need a villain... And I don't see her making a new one. Dumbledore's rise and eventual defeat of Grindlewald could be interesting is handled properly, though.

Who wants to read about the adventures of "Albus Severus Potter" and his clone squad in Hogwarts?

Only if Albus Severus is an unhinged homosexual hell bent with getting revenge on his parents for naming him Albus Severus.

I hope she writes more books. Whether they are good or not, they will bring more people into the fandom. That is something we need, especially now that the fandom is shrinking.

How true. I've read a few after Hogwarts stories but I've never been interested into reading anything about Harry+friend's kids.
I mean Albus Severus was an automatic death sentence for any future stories:eek:

Anyway, about post Hogwarts stories. I think the biggest mystery in the whole series is still who taught Voldemort to get to his level. That could still give a lot plot potential connected to the old stories.

In other words you basically want Rowling to write HP fanfiction? ;)

The only thing I'm still interested in seeing is that HP universe "encyclopedia" or whatever that she said she'd write eventually. I expect that it would add at least a few more contradictions or plot holes, but the universe expansion would still make great fodder for fanfiction writing.

If Rowling ever writes a sequel, chances are she'll fuck it up big time. But I'd be willing to buy it even for the slight chance that it might be good. Main character older/wiser/more/awesome(beard!) Harry!
But, lazy ass that she is, she wont write anything, or even if she does it will be either as fucked up as HBP and DH was, or it will be for the randomest event/plot/character that no-one gave a shit about.

Why not? Many fan fiction plots based in her universe are more...creative than her own, original works.

If it was an Harry centered one, I would be interested.

It wouldn't really be the same, of course. The magic, no pun intended, just isn't there anymore, but I'd probably give it a go just for old time's sake.

Eh, disagree. What makes the HP universe fun to read and write in is that it gives us so much unknown stuff to play with and contradictions with a protagonist we like even if he kinda annoys us in his canon personification. The imperfection and incompleteness of the world make it much more interesting to write in than say, LoTR.

If all that other stuff is revealed, it can only hurt the fandom from a fanfic point of view. Either we'll all totally ignore it (see: her other two 'reference' books) or else the fandom will be plagued with a new wave of retard ideas trying to fit everything in its place as canonically as possible without any space for creating writing.

Come to think of it, I recall some article mentioning a brief interview with her and some quotes about plot ideas she was having for a new Harry Potter book. I remember something about Ginny having an affair with Nevile and Harry trying to get custody over the kids, while dealing with Voldemort's second return. Damn I hope that was a prank.. Looking for the article now.

EDIT: Google turned up nothing, and I saw the article two reformats and another computer ago, so no luck on that route. Did find one that's obviously a joke, though, on some site called The Daily Mash. I'll link it for the lulz, since I found it vaguely amusing in a really weird way.

    Lolfuckwhat? You smokin'?

One of the big things that pisses me off is people saying, "JKROWLING ISN'T FUCKING CREATIVE, SHE'S A BAD WRITER AND SHE SHOULD SUCK MY DICK." If she's that bad then gtfo of the fandom and go to something more worthy of your attention.

That and the Ginny/Neville with Custody!Harry is enough to make me hate you, true or not. Just go.

Read that- it was 'eh', but I was greatly amused by the pic of Elvis Costello cast as an aging Harry.

(Gives a little more meaning to the lyric: 'diving for dear life, when we could be diving for pearls...')
