Don't know anything about either fandom, but hidden legends and ancient prophecies seem to fit pretty well together.

Has probably been done, and will undoubtedly be done again in the future.

That would fail really hard as a detective saga.

Could turn out as a fairly amusing train wreck I suppose.

Why not just write original fiction instead? I'm sure that would hide all the cringe-worthy moments better.

Azumanga Daioh is actually a pretty funny comedy anime. It's good, although I haven't watched all of it. And with that anime thrown into the mix anything is possible. :awesome
