I hated it the moment I got past the first chapter. The way the story's told just doesn't appeal to me. It's the same with James Patterson's books. I just can't read them for some reason, it's just the way their told.

Finished reading the Lost Hero and here's what I thought of it.

The book is a nice book and I enjoyed it more than the Lost Olympians. The story is what you come to except from Riordan with lots of action,Greek Mythology, and some Roman Mythology on the top of it.

The heroes were cool with some nice backstories. Jason is supposed to be a major badass based on what is said throughout the book but not much of his ability is shown because of memory loss.

One of my major gripes with the Percy Jackson novels is still here with the fights against the various mythological villains being too easy. Also Percy never appears in the book which was a letdown.

Anyway this is a must read for anyone who liked the Percy Jackson series and continues the story quite nicely. The ending promises some epic things to come with lot more Roman mythology, new demigod and of course Percy and I am now waiting for his next book which comes out fall next year.

Which persons from the Percy jackson books made an appearance? How long has it been since the final battle?

Annabeth,Thalia,Rachel and Chiron are the one's shown most and some of the other campers are also mentioned in one or two scenes.

It has been about 4-5 months after the final battle.

I'll probably buyLost Hero later today, but I'm a bit skeptical of it. I read the first two chapters and I just can't connect the Titan-stomping invulnerable badass that is Percy with the damsel in distress that he apparently becomes in this book. He's just too awesome not to be the main character in my mind.

Can someone give me an overview of the plot? It doesn't sound so good, without Percy.

But Vash, I didn't even link anything! :(

    Ah well.

    Edit:

I'll try and post one in a few days after I read it (assuming no one else has done so by then).

Sorry, but we've got a zero tolerance to it for a reason.

Could I get a link or quick explanation of what is and isn't allowed? I don't mean to be a spoiler but I just assume people in this thread have read the books.

He's not talking about any specific books, just about how DLP has a zero tolerance policy regarding content obtained through illegal means.

Percy is not a damsel in distress in this. There's a damn good reason for the his disappearnce which ties in with the main plot of this new series..

    Pretty much this:

No discussion of where to find and how to obtain illegally pirated content. Not to say we disapprove. I'm fairly certain greater than 85% of DLP regulars do use it, but its a secret so no open discussion.

He's not a damsel in distress. I can't really say without giving away some things though.

Also the next book is likely to be Percy centric, or at least heavily feature him I'd guess. Being titled 'The Son of Neptune' and all.

Actually, Percy could be more badass considering where he's been since he went missing.

Anyway, I thought the book was good. About what you'd expect after having read the previous series.

Looking forward to the rest of the series, should be good. I was a little wary of the Greek/Roman things at first (you'll understand when you read) but I think it'll all work out very well.

Okay, so I picked up The Lost Hero and am currently reading it.

Like several others in this thread, I was somewhat put off by the lack of Percy. In the same way, the sudden revelation that Thalia has a brother was...yeah.

However, it seems okay so far, so I'll keep reading.

    But more then anything?

I'm hoping Percy goes Native at the Roman Camp, comes back a complete badass, and goes out kicking ass, left, right, and center. Serously, I hope the next book has them trying to 'rescue' Percy, only to find that he's completely taken over the entire Camp and crowned himself Emperor Perseus or something.
