More luggage for the EA hate wagon: the EA Louse blog (a play on the infamous EA Spouse article) has been getting a lot of press lately, as it's been dropping a lot of info and has been collating a lot of comments about the inner workings of EA - most of them anonymous and most of them questionable, but it paints a pretty fucking grim picture of the state of the video game industry.

I didn't say she was a old god just close to them.

But she's definitely not an abomination whatever she is.

And how are you sure of that?

The only real info we have on her comes from the creepy goth chick, who was raised to, essentially, have her spirit cannibalized.

As I've said, the definition of abomination is rather vague. 'Cording to the lores, which are very vague, it's just someone possessed or having a demon reside inside them. It can happen to anyone, and they are often the most subtle of threats.

She could be a demon who forced her way onto Thedas, like the Baroness. But then again, that brings to mind the question of how and why she has to keep swapping bodies?

Nother possibility, the text of the Lore states that they can make some sort of deal depending on the strength of the mage. It's possible Flemeth, bound a demon to a pledge that it would take her when she died, so long as it granted her vast strength. In which case her desire to escape death by any means becomes viable, and actually preferable, when thought about in a pragmatic sense. She dies, and a pride demon likely takes over her incredibly magically/spiritually strong body. Bam, likely a cataclysm worse than a blight if the text is to be believed.

Very many possibilities, they will likely be answered in game 2, given that she is supposed to be a main character as far as I know.

Another thing to think about is the screen shot of her they've released of her/was captured from one of the videos.

And what reason would she have to lie at that point?

She's either gotten what she wanted or she hasn't. There is no reason for her to lie about it.

Also considering the fact that every other abomination you kill stays dead that is another point in the whole "Flemeth isn't an abomination." camp.

An abomination is anyone with a demon inside of them.

The context that you see it in, in-game, is a demon fully possessing a human being, but most of those people weren't immortal dragon-women.

My theory is that she's in control instead of the demon, which is why she's so much more powerful than any other abomination.

Y'all are using loaded religious terminology to try to accurately define a phenomenon that said religion considers heresy and has an entire militant branch dedicated to stamping it out.

    Stop that.

...I hope that whole Warriors can't use ranged attacks isn't true. It's bad enough there's no more dual wielding or using bows. *sighs*

    I like Warriors damnit.

Not saying she's lying, I'm saying she's been misinformed, or prejudiced against her possibly even been manipulated to believe certain things and disregard others.

I agree with Fiat's assumption, she's likely the one in control, but will probably lose strength as she get's older, allowing her demon to seize control when she dies. Which gives a decent reason for body hopping as she did, other than, "hurr durr, youth be betta, I be evuls and body hop into girls I raised from a young age."

Also, are you sure you actually kill Flemeth? Not just her body, a dragon bound to human form, some sort of humoncili replica of her, or a possessed and glamored woman, those type of things? All these things are possible within the context of magi in game. Specially the stuff that doesn't really show up often gameplay wise, like ritual magic.

I like to think of the magic in dragon age as a kind of, Dresden-esque system. IE the spells that you use off hand are like evocation, while the ritual magic, IE the thing on the first level of the mages guild or the ritual Jowan uses to send you to the fade, is like Thaumaturgy.

Warriors can't DW or use Bows anymore. Rogues can.

Apparently a warrior who is a expert with weapons can somehow not understand the complexity of using two weapons at once while a rogue can. :facepalm

They can't use bows (crossbows OR longbows) either.

I mean...everything I hear about DA2 at this point just leads to a facepalm.

And that hasn't happened by now? Flemeth's not exactly young you know. She's been around for a few hundred years.

As for why her body ages...I don't know.

For a time. Enough for her to need to regenerate. (Especially considering the whole "I'll keep the book for myself" option where she goes "if you can")

That said. Yes I'm inclined to believe Morrigan. She's not the sharpest knife in the rack but I'm sure she's been around Flemeth long enough to tell something's off.

    I guess we'll find out in DA2.

...If it doesn't suck as hard as I think it will.

I should have been more clear. When she get's old enough that her heart stops, or something just as bad happens, the demon would likely take over.
Very true. Hmm, that can point to any of my suggestions though...
She has, she implicates she's some form of abomination during her missions. Then during her DLC, she say's she's not an abomination but something different, but still not quite human.
    It most likely will.

    PREDICTIONS BASED ON HISTORY:
In around one and a half-2 years, expect them to shift release levels, they'll likely be putting out up to 3 releases a year from then on. At that point, you'll likely see the bio-docs leave the company, along with a lot of the staff, it get rolled into EA with a slight pause in production, then you'll see a release of derivatives until biowares name has been dragged so far into the mud, they stop putting out titles with the Bioware label on it, simply switching to EA games.

For examples of this process, see any one of the companies, I believed one of the above posters links, IE Bullfrog, Westwood, Maxis, and Origin.

Feel the dread, I first went through this when Origin was bought out, one of the first companies to be ruined by EA.

I'm going to excommunicate DA 2 from the DA continuity right now. Anyone mind?

Sure, replace it with Sengoku Rance for lulz though.

OOOH OOOH, then we can replace ME3 with Big Bang Age.

{If you are under 18 or live in a country that forbids the material, Lolicon, hentai of any kind, depictions of nude small breasted woman(this is for your crazy government Ausies), depictions of rape, depictions of underage sex, depictions of harassment sexual or otherwise, depictions of erotic gore, adult video games, offensive language, depictions of anal sex, depictions of homosexuality, implied incest, and probably around 100 more things I can't be bothered to list.} Don't google those.

It's a joke man, a very bad one, but pure joking, no seriousness at all.

As far as the continium thing, yeah, it could be a good story and game, it's likely not going to be.

Especially since they spent 6 years or so on the first one as far as I can recall. Wanna say the Dragon Age site appeared in 03.

Congrats, you just justified Australia's ridiculous internet policy, singlehandedly.

It's actually not as bad as it sounds. Also, nothing justifies censorship in any form. Nor would that come anywhere near justifying australlia or china's filters, which include filtering of political, religious, skeptical, fetish, wikipedia articles, and technically legal humor websites, IE Cracked and Uncyclopedia IIRC, as well.

They are also incredibly easy to subvert. I currently donate a PC and internet connection to a friend in China to use as a VPN point, he really doesn't even have to go that far, he could just proxy himself into one of the proxies not caught by the Chinese filters. Or use something like a TOR client.

Rance is mostly a humor game, gameplay is absolutely fun though. It's basically a JRPG, with a larger tactical component, and sex scenes as a small bonus.

I already see where this is going. Please avoid the censorship debate in the bioware hate thread. :p

OK, yeah, mostly a joke on the replacing it with a porn game. No need to debate anything here.

Eh, as far as I see it, Bioware was fucked as soon as it joined EA. The drop of quality should be seen as an obvious effect, not as a shock.
