What exactly was the downside of his curse again? The one weakness is not necessarily a downside of it.

Also, did Ares curse to lose a fight when in matters hit him? I can't seem to remember it >_>

It eventually will get him killed, supposedly. That's why Achilles and Hestia both warn him against taking the curse.

About the Ares curse, it hit when he was battling Atlas at the end of Titan's Curse. That's why he freed Artemis and took on Atlas' curse.

As for the Curse of Achilles, I think the main things are that the one spot is extra sensitive (i.e. Achilles could be killed by an arrow in his heel) and that inevitably he will be struck down. No matter how invulnerable he is, he'll always have that weakness and one day it will be his demise.

About that, how does that work? Do wide area attacks that include that spot work, or does it have to be a precision hit at the weak point and no further? If, say, Percy was hit by a canonball, or caught up in an explosion, his weak point would inevitably be hit. Does that mean that he'd die, or does it have to be a precise attack exactly at that spot?

I think that it has to be a substantial blow. After all Percy gets force-punted (one of the coolest titan moves) by Hyperion, and if I remember correctly takes a big tumble onto his back.

Yeah, he gets flung like a hundred yards and lands on his back and specifically states it would have boken every bone in his body if not for his invincibility. Kronos does that too, earlier.

So blowing him up is not an option? It must be a hit specifically on his weak spot?

There's a funny part in the book(Last Olympian) where some river-gods are discussing killing Percy(he's annoying them), and they say that since he's invulnerable to damage they should just electrocute him. Maybe that'll work?

Ah, ok then. I just couldn't remember when it happened.

But wasn't Achilles killed by a poisoned arrow?

Yeah. Just hitting him there isn't enough. You've got to do something that's actually lethal.

Has anyone found any good fanfiction by the way, or started to write one?

The few PJ fanfics I've tried to read have been...not so good.

Haven't really seen any good PJ/HP crossovers either.

I have started a HP/PJ crossover of my own but it's not done yet so hasn't been posted at FFN. It's in WbA somewhere. It's sort of on the back-burner though as I'm working on other stories first.

I'd like to see some good PJ fics though.

I'm not sure if it has to be lethal.
In one scene in the Last Olympian, Percy, in an intimate(kinda) moment with Annabeth, lets her touch his weak spot.
He describes it as feeling like an electric spark, kinda painful.
Maybe his vulnerability is "concentrated" in that spot?

No. Annabeth asks about his weak spot and he lets her touch it.
    Its right after
    she gets hurt when fighting.

I got it, it was for the benefit of people who hadn't read the books.

Anyways, has anyone found any good Percy Jackson fan fiction?

I just had a little idea for a fanfic I'd like to see, not much of a plot just something with Percy and Calypso, maybe an AU of Battle of the Labyrinth where she's allowed off her island to help against Kronos as a form of probation.

So I was doing a bit of wiki searching to brainstorm for the PJatO fic I may, but probably won't write, and came across this bit:

Perhaps this explains where most of the half-bloods who joined Kronos came from...

I mean, at first I was a bit upset at the idea that there was a Roman camp, since it didn't seem to fit in with the first five books of the series, but now I'm not so sure. Percy really had no excuse not to recognize any of the half-bloods who joined Kronos by sight at least, right?

Who wouldn't love the god of Saturday, amirite?
