The site is now littered with errors and the forums don't work. There is no information on the main page and the forums are talking about some sort of farewell? I guess they are taking the site down?

As much as I'm cheering about the last sputtering gasps of the Harmonian shippers (and it's about damn time too) losing their main site, I feel obliged to ask whether or not any actual stories there should be saved or archived, at least before the site goes away.

Any Harry/Hermione shippers want to go over there and take a look?

 

As far as I remember there wasn't a single fic I didn't find elsewhere first. The only story at portkey I bookmarked was "Harry Potter and the Fooly of Dumbledore" and that was literally ages ago and I don't even know what that was about.

 

I liked their Rec Engine over there. Thought it was pretty decent, not always in terms of quality of fics but the way the search system worked.

 

That's why I was asking, I don't give a shit about the actual site, I was just following a few stories that were in progress so I was wondering if anyone knew if the site was going down for good.

 

Losing other websites is never a good thing, as it signals a lack of interest in the community. Being DLP is only nice when there are hordes of shitty, inferior sites around you.

 

Yeah, and that's why DLP has been branching out of late. Toward Dresden, and other projects. We could be a force for intelligent hate in any fandom, which is why I love you miserable bastards.

 

I loved Lucky by napalmnacey when I started reading fanfiction many moons ago. I think it still holds up reasonably well, but there might be nostalgia clouding the acuity of my judgment.

Doesn't seem to be posted anywhere else, at the very least.

 

I have several stories there bookmarked which must have entertained me once. Would be bad if they shut down as each dieing site is bad for the scene unless it's a slash site.

Would definitely be nice if somebody organizes a backup if even some trash site like ficwad had people doing that early summer, surprisingly.

 

This makes me somewhat sad. Although I can't remember specifics, I remember reading some stuff there back when I read anything and everything and had much lower standards (not that everything there was bad, just a lot of it). And H/Hr is still better than H/G in my book.

Also, Amynoelle and Heaven are apparently still writing (updated today!), although it seems they finally finished Last Dance and moved on to Last Dance 2. Regardless of how shitty their work is, one has to admire the sheer number of words invested in this stuff.



Edit: I just added up all the word counts for all the stories on their profile, and it is a whopping 3,688,833. What the fuck.

I found LavendarBrown's fics there "The Bock of Morgan LeFay" and "The Final Reckoning" - and quite a lot of other great Hr/R stuff.

 

I didn't think anyone admitted to liking Hr/R on this site.

Personally, I don't like any pairing thats not Harry/Girl or Girl/Girl.

Edit: As for Portkey...eh, I've never went searching through it myself so I don't feel all that sad about it. The again, I should probably feel sad about my great aunt dying, but I don't.
